EPISODE 4

Dwayne Lexus De Villa POV

I opened my eyes because she was shaking me.

"Dwayne, I want to eat mango with ketchup. Please buy me some," she said with a hint of pleading in her voice.

"Let’s eat rice first before the mango. I’ll buy it for you later. It’s too early for mango; eat something first so your stomach won’t be empty," I told her.

"But I want mango," she insisted.

"Fine, I’ll buy it, but let’s eat first."

"I don’t want rice," she said like a child, pouting at me.

"Then no mango if you won’t eat breakfast," I warned her. I noticed she was getting annoyed, which made me smile because she looked so cute.

"Fine, I’ll eat as long as you buy me mango," she said angrily and stomped off to the bathroom.

When she came out, she just glanced at me before leaving the room. I followed her to make sure she was actually going to eat.

Once I saw she was eating, I approached her to let her know I was leaving.

"Miracle, I’m heading out."

"Where are you going?" she asked, looking confused.

"I’ll just go home to change and buy your mango and ketchup," I replied. She nodded at me and continued eating.

As I left their house, I ran into Michael.

"Good morning, Brother Dwayne," he greeted cheerfully.

"Good morning to you too," I replied.

"Where are you going, Brother Dwayne?" he asked.

"Your sister asked me to buy her mango with ketchup. She’s having cravings," I explained. His expression changed to one of disgust.

"I’m off," I said, walking away from him.

When I got home, Mom and Dad were there to greet me.

"Where have you been, son? Why were you out all night? Where did you sleep?" Mom asked in rapid succession.

"Mom, I stayed at Miracle’s house. I slept there," I answered.

She was surprised by my answer. "How is she? What did her parents say?"

"She’s fine, Mom. Her parents already know about her pregnancy, and they’re not against it," I explained.

"That’s good then," Dad said.

"Mom, Dad, I’ll go upstairs to change. She asked me to do something for her," I told them.

"Wow, Miracle got you to run errands for her," Lily said in amazement. I gave her a glare before continuing to walk upstairs.

I spent a couple of hours taking a bath before deciding to change clothes and leave the house. I didn’t pay attention to anyone else and just walked out.

I went to the market to look for mangoes.

"Ate, how much is one kilo here?" I asked the vendor.

"One hundred pesos per kilo."

"I’ll take two kilos," I said politely.

I pulled out my wallet and took out a 1,000-peso bill. The vendor handed me the mangoes I bought.

"Here’s the payment."

"Sir, I don’t have change for your 1,000 pesos," she said.

"Just keep the change, Ate. I’ll be off," I said.

"Thank you, son," she replied gratefully.

When I got back to their house, Tita, Miracle’s mom, greeted me with a worried expression.

"Tita, what happened?" I asked, nervous about her response.

"She’s been looking for you for a while now. She’s been crying," Tita told me. I quickly went to find her.

When I arrived, I saw Tito and Michael trying to calm Miracle down.

"Miracle, I’m here now. Don’t cry anymore. I brought the mango and ketchup," I said to soothe her.

She looked at me and smiled when she saw me. "Michael, peel this," she ordered her brother.

"Why me?" he complained.

"You don’t want to?" she said, starting to cry again. I panicked and signaled Michael to just follow what she wanted. Reluctantly, he took the mango.

"Tita, can we talk?" I asked her. She nodded, so I approached her.

"Tita, why is she like this? If she doesn’t get what she wants, she cries," I asked.

"Son, that’s normal for pregnant women. They become more sensitive," Tita explained.

"Tita, I’ll take her to our house later," I informed her.

"Alright, son," she replied.

I looked at Miracle, who was happily eating mango with ketchup. I shook my head, wondering what that would even taste like.

She looked at me and handed me a piece of mango with ketchup. I gave her a confused look. I understood what she wanted me to do and grimaced.

"Just try it," she insisted.

"I’m full. You can have it," I lied.

Tears started falling from her eyes again, and I panicked. I immediately took the mango she was offering.

"Here, I’ll eat it. Don’t cry anymore," I said to calm her down. She stopped crying and smiled at me. She then turned to Michael and handed him a piece of mango with ketchup too. He grimaced in disgust.
