The police were outside the mansion with an eviction order. It was very sad what was happening to Adelaida, because from one moment to the next she had nowhere to live, and on top of that, a sick child.
Josefina, the housekeeper of the mansion, as soon as she saw her, ran with Francis, who was in her arms, to hug Adelaida, who was astonished by everything that was happening. Her few belongings were in the street, and a lawyer approached her, informing her succinctly that she had to vacate the mansion.
"My dear Adelaida, I insisted that they should wait for you to take out your things. But since they came with several police officers, they didn't allow me to. As best I could, I packed your things and the boy's. They grabbed them and threw them in the street as if they were worthless," Fina explained through tears, and her child was crying too. That was what broke Adelaida's heart the most, seeing her child cry.
"Don't worry, my Fina, you did what you could, and I thank you," Adelaida looked sadly at her few belongings, while holding her child to comfort him.
She didn't care that her deceased ex-husband filled her with expensive things. And even less after her sick baby was born.
As if foreseeing the future, she saved every euro of the little money that Francois gave her each month for her son's upkeep, of which she spent only the strictly necessary.
That way, she managed to have a few savings; she had to get them out of the mansion now along with her medallion, and she didn't know how to do it. Until, as if she read her mind, Mrs. Josefina handed her her purse.
"My dear, here are your savings and the medallion. Thank God, they didn't check me, because I took it out as if it were my belongings," Adelaida was surprised by what her dear housekeeper told her.
"How is that, Fina? Were you evicted too?" She asked, confused, with a mixture of feelings between anger and sadness.
"No, my dear, I resigned. I don't want to work in that house with its new inhabitants. And much less with what they did to you. That's not ethical, my loyalty is with you and my little Francis," her dear Fina confessed, taking her hands.
"Fina, what will you do now? Where are you going to go? What are you going to work as?" Adelaida bombarded her with thousands of questions.
"We're all going to my little house right now. And don't worry about me, because I'm already receiving my pension. It's not much, but it's enough for us to live modestly," she explains with optimism, trying to cheer Adelaida up.
"Thank you, Fina, you are like a mother to me," she hugs her until they are interrupted by one of the police officers.
"Mrs. Adelaida DuPont, this is the eviction notice. You can sign it now so you can leave," he hands her the document and demands that she leave the place that was her home.
While Adelaida returns the signed document, Dimas, her former driver, got a friend of his to take her few belongings in his van. And in a final act of gratitude to his former employer, he did not charge her for the haul.
Thus, the two women, along with little Francis, headed to their new life.
After half an hour of travel, they arrived at one of the "banlieues" of Versailles, which are the humble neighborhoods of the city, where, on top of a dilapidated workshop, is Fina's little house.
"Welcome to my humble home," Fina opens the door after climbing some rickety stairs, revealing the interior of a beautiful little house, well organized and cared for.
"It's very pretty, Fina, I love it!" Adelaida said sincerely, entering with her child Francis.
"Come on, my dear. Nothing compared to the mansion you had," Fina said, ashamed.
"You know that never dazzled me. That mansion was just a place where I lived with my child. But look, thank goodness, I never took it as my own." And it was true, Adelaida never got used to the luxuries that Francois gave her.
Fina lowered her head with sorrow, because what Adelaida said was true. She was never attached to material things, much less to the mansion.
"You're right, my dear. But those heartless Pinaults should never have kicked you out of the mansion, and much less with the sick child," Fina still didn't understand why they had done it.
"According to my deceased husband, Francis is a bastard. Oh Fina, I hope he's burning in the last pot of hell! He's an unfortunate to doubt my fidelity. But let's not cry over spilled milk. I need to find a job urgently, Francis's medications cannot be stopped." That was what worried the women the most now.
"In the morning, I spoke with Margarita, my comadre. She told me that they urgently need a domestic worker in the mansion where she started working as a housekeeper, but they require that she be no more than forty years old. That's why I can't take that job. You go, if they give it to you, I'll take care of Francis while you work," Josefina proposed.
"Yes, I accept, I accept. I'll go tomorrow, tell your comadre that I'm interested and that I'm going to take it."
Thus, Adelaida was recommended by Josefina to work as a domestic worker in a luxurious mansion. All she knows about her employer is that he is a magnate of digital platforms and video applications, called "KenKi digital".
The mansion where she started working was very similar to the one that was hers. She introduced herself to the housekeeper, who showed her all the facilities and what she had to do.
The day after she started working, she left the small house very early. Adelaida had to travel from Versailles to Paris and take a direct train that leaves from Versailles Chantiers to Paris Gare Montparnasse. From there, take line six that takes her to the luxurious neighborhood of Neuilly-sur-Seine, then walk five blocks and at the end of the path you arrive at the majestic mansion of Kento Kimura.
It was her first day, and although she had not had to lift a finger for years because she had servants at her service, she did not forget that for a long time she was in charge of cleaning the orphanage and then in her small room in the boarding house where she lived before meeting Francois.
That day, in particular, she had to clean Mr. Kento's office as Margarita indicated. She took her cleaning supplies and bent down to clean the large black oak desk with wood protector liquid. When suddenly she felt two hands take her by the shoulder, dragging her out of the office, throwing her outside, in the middle of the mansion's hall. While a male voice shouted:
"What the hell are you doing here, you damn bitch? Who the hell allowed you back in again!?"
