The bus was empty when she entered. The smell of clean seats hit immediately. She had left his suitcases and was only carrying his backpack with a change of clothes, cleaning supplies, and his diary. She placed her seat in the back, right next to the window, it would be a bit annoying to get out but she preferred to be there, where no one could see her and she could see everyone. He left the backpack on the next seat. Apparently, it would remain empty. Smiled sadly. From there, she could see the city, even saw his small neighborhood. She wanderer if anyone would notice her absence, or how long it will take to them to notice?, maybe a few days?, months? Felt tears forming right away. She didn't even have a burial place to visit every now and then. When the bus started the journey, it would be leaving everything behind. Kira, her past, her childhood, everything until yesterday would be buried in the ground, locked under seven keys. There was no other option, she was alone, with no one to turn to, no one will sit next to her, no one will guard while sehe sleeps, no one would give her a handkerchief to dry her tears. She was alone and had to get used to it. Holding his phone in his hands, she fell asleep. He had spent two days while waiting for the result of his graduation, without sleeping properly. The warm atmosphere of the bus, added to the relief of stopping lying and living in fear, calmed his mind, allowing her to sleep for several hours. Just when the bus started, a young man entered looking for his seat. Buying tickets at the last minute was definitely not a very good idea, not only was it expensive but you could not choose your seat He grimaced when he saw his seat occupied, a woman was there, he couldn't tell clearly since the hood covered much of her face, but he could swear she was totally asleep. He cleared his throat, waiting for her to wake up, because he was afraid she would be scared if she woke up in the middle of the night and saw him there. Se didn't wake up, he shrugged his shoulders, placed the bakcpack on the floor and just took his place. The bus continued on its way after the co-pilot checked the seats. Smiling weakly at him, the guard pointed to the woman next to him. -I need to see his face - he said, shaking his phone-.I have to make sure he is the one who bought the ticket. -Oh, I don't know she- he whispered
why are you whispering?
-Ma'am- the guard spoke loudly, with a voice deeper than a while ago-,Madam- he shouted. The woman startled and hurriedly removed her hood, releasing a delicate aroma of vanilla by the movement of the hair. -I'm sorry-, he said with half-closed eyes by the light. -Can I see your ticket?- he spoke normally. The woman's hands rushed to search through the backpack. She took out a small bag from which he extracted the ticket-. Everything in order- said the co-pilot after checking it. He returned it to her before leaving. -You're not alone, are you?- said the young man-,what a relief -Excuse me- she asked, surprised. Seeing his startled eyes, he clarified his words. -It's just that... I thought you would be scared if you woke up and saw me here- he moved his hands encouragingly. -Ah- she relieved- ,don't worry. I've slept next to men in the past. She allowed herself to smile a little, then the hidden meaning of his words alarmed her-. I don't mean that... no... my cousin, we are the same age- hurried to explain. The young man laughed. It was a loud laugh, one of those that spread easily. Kira smiled involuntarily-. You didn't think about that, did you? -No, not at all- he denied, still laughing-. What is your name?
-Kira- she answered without further ado-,Lyra- corrected immediately, thinking that his heart would come out of his mouth at any moment. -Kyra Lyra?, Lyra Kyra?- he said thoughtfully - Kyra is cuter- concluded, giving her a smile.
-I prefer Lyra- she said, looking at her hands.
-OK. Lyra, my pleasure. I'm Vick- he extended his hand-, I'll be your partner on this trip. You can sleep peacefully if you want, I'll let you know if something happens.
As she shook her hand, felt a small current of electricity run through his fingers. Many devices, touhg pointing to the lights and screens in each seat. She didn't know what say, just nodded. She wasn't planning on sleeping but she did anyway. Some knocks on her shoulder woke her up, Vick was reading next to her, he watched her over his glasses.
-Dinner will be served in a few minutes- explained before returning to the book. She nodded.
-Thank you- she whispered. He saw her again, and this time, he winked. Could you let me go out a moment? - She looked for her personal hygiene bag. He got up from the seat, leaving the way clear for her-. Thank you- said again as he passed by her.
Lyra took longer than she expected. He sighed looking at the night landscape through the window, the sky was beautiful, he leaned down to take a photo of the stars.
-You can stay there- he turned around, startled. Lyra had her hair up in a bun, her skin seemed to glow. He was speechless for a few seconds, his eyes were big, nose small, lips plump. She was attractive.
-I was just taking a photo, sorry- he moved his body to let her pass, she gestured with her hand. -Don't worry, I'm a little dizzy- she lied, taking the place next to the hallway. She went over the boy's legs to lift his backpack and place it under the seat, and then she left his suitcase on his lap. He murmured something else but couldn't hear it over the sound of the announcement: a movie would be shown after dinner, and they were giving instructions to watch it or turn off the screen.
Vick was tall. She could tell now that she was awake. He must have been six inches taller than her. She looked very small next to him. They had dinner without saying a word. He seemed immersed in a message conversation, smiled, and murmured words every so often he took photos of the landscape. She checked her phone, there were no messages, no calls, so she decided to turn it off, no one would contact her anyway. Not anymore. Right after the dinner, the movie begins. It's was a classical romance, two lovers of opposite families, fighting to keep the love in secret, but then the plot twist: he doesn't love her. Lyra enyoded the movie, so much that didn't notice the lights were off, neither the sleeping sound of the people around her. The lovers were forced apart, and the male moved to another city. Before she knew, her face was covered in tears, watching the female lead approaching a wedding with someone she didn't love.
-Here- Vick pasess a pack of tissue. Lyra looked at him surprised, but smile when saw his teary eyes-. I... I wasn't to watch it but yo look so inmerse- the she fall, Vick was really near her, his head almost touching the elbow.
Right, he turn off the TV she said to herself.
-It's okey. Tenkyu- she lay down a little bit so Vick could watch better.
-I think he's going to return home- whispered after a while.
-Nah, not whit his parents there- denied Lyra without moving his eyes of the screen-, she's coming. No wedding, no obligation. She's going to find him. I bet on it.
-Your number whisper again with a smile-, give me your number if you're right and she finds him. -And if I'm not?- question her looking at his eyes. They were brown, like wood, really pretty and shine, just as his smile.
-Then I give you my number- both smiled.
That doesn't fell real to Lyra. A few hours ago she was completely alone, reaching for a start. Begin as new person. And then this boy appears at the last moment, makes her comfortable, lends her a tissue to dry her tears and smile, washing away all the bad things. If destiny was something real, then both were matched since birth to be there, in that bus, at that time,on that day.
