Disguise

Happy New Year!!!🎉🎉

May this new year be filled with joy, love, and endless possibilities. May your dreams take flight, your heart find peace, and your spirit soar.

__________

It all started with a bet.

“You wouldn’t dare,” Jiang Cheng scoffed as he folded his arms.

Wei WuXian’s grin grew wider. “Oh, Jiang Cheng, you should know better than to challenge me.”

The bet? Wei WuXian had to dress up as a girl and walk into the Cloud Recesses, just to see how Lan WangJi would react. It wasn’t his most well-thought-out idea, but it was Wei WuXian, and “well-thought-out” rarely applied.

With the help of some junior disciples—who were far too excited about this plan—Wei WuXian found himself dressed in a simple but elegant white and blue hanfu. His hair was tied up with delicate ribbons, and they even added a little blush to his cheeks for good measure.

He spun around, admiring himself in the mirror. “Not bad, huh? I’d make a pretty lady.”

Jiang Cheng groaned. “You look ridiculous.”

Wei WuXian winked. “Ridiculously good. Alright, off to the Cloud Recesses!”

---

Lan WangJi was meditating in the Jingshi when Wei WuXian strolled in, his steps exaggeratedly graceful. He cleared his throat, pitching his voice higher.

“Good afternoon, Hanguang-Jun.”

Lan WangJi’s eyes opened, and he stared at the figure before him. For a moment, there was silence.

Wei WuXian, trying to hold back his laughter, curtsied awkwardly. “I’ve heard so much about your noble reputation. It’s an honor to meet you.”

Lan WangJi’s gaze remained steady. “Wei Ying.”

Wei WuXian froze. “What?”

“You are not fooling anyone,” Lan WangJi said calmly, standing up.

Wei WuXian pouted, dropping the act immediately. “How did you know? I even added blush!”

Lan WangJi stepped closer, his eyes soft with amusement. “Your mannerisms. And your voice.”

Wei WuXian sighed dramatically. “I knew I should’ve practiced more! Alright, fine, you caught me. But be honest, Lan Zhan—don’t I look pretty?”

Lan WangJi tilted his head slightly, studying him. “You do not need a disguise to be captivating.”

Wei WuXian blinked, caught off guard by the unexpected compliment. “Lan Zhan! Are you flirting with me?”

Lan WangJi’s ears turned a faint shade of red, but he maintained his composure. “I am merely stating the truth.”

Wei WuXian laughed, spinning around in his borrowed hanfu. “Well, since I’m already dressed up, how about a date? I’ll be the lady, and you can be the gentleman.”

Lan WangJi sighed softly, but there was a faint smile on his lips. “Wei Ying, change back.”

“But Lan Zhan!” Wei WuXian whined. “You didn’t even enjoy the full performance!”

Before Lan WangJi could respond, a voice called from outside.

“Hanguang-Jun, is everything alright?” Lan XiChen stepped into the room, only to freeze at the sight of Wei WuXian in a hanfu.

Wei WuXian grinned. “XiChen-xiong! How do I look?”

Lan XiChen blinked, clearly unsure how to respond. “Ah… unique?”

Lan WangJi sighed again, pulling Wei WuXian toward the door. “Wei Ying, enough.”

As they walked out, Wei WuXian leaned closer, his mischievous grin returning. “Admit it, Lan Zhan—you liked it a little, didn’t you?”

Lan WangJi didn’t answer, but the faintest hint of a smile lingered on his lips.
