chapter 6: I saw you

Rain POV (past)

I am sitting on a large rock while gazing at the vast sea. I'm here in a park near the small coffee shop where I work.

I took a bite of the burger I was eating while looking around.

Along with this, the strong gust of wind hits my body.

I let out a sigh and looked at what I was eating.

This is all I have for a snack today because it's still a few days before payday, so I'm saving money.

It's not a big deal because I've gotten used to it.

Another couple flirting caught my attention. They are on my left side, not too far away. And they are kissing.

"It's too early for that, and don't they see me?" I said to myself.

While I was glancing at them, I noticed that the man was actually staring at me. A lingering gaze

A strange gaze, a gaze that feels like it is me he was kissing.

I gulp and immediately stood up. I even slapped myself lightly to snap out of it, and walked away.

I stood up from my seat when I noticed someone in front of me. I didn't look at and immediately grabbed the order list to write down what it wanted to buy.

"One caramel latte"

I just wrote it on paper while not looking, then handed it to my companion so they could do it.

"Only 49, sir~" I said listlessly.

"That's why you're sluggish, because you only eat burgers."

I only turned to look at him when he mentioned that phrase. I was surprised when I saw his face.

He gave a serious look. Those eyes, eyes that seem to entice.

"Si-sir?"I said hesitantly.

He was the one I saw earlier with a woman, and he was staring at me intently.

"Nothing," he replied, giving a brief smile. "Just keep the change," he said, handing over the payment and sitting at a small table in our coffee shop.

"Do you know him?"Aries suddenly appeared next to me, one of my colleagues here at work.

There are two of us here as counter crew slash cashier, and two baristas, three men and one woman named Aries who knows my true gender.

I just shook my head.

"Weee?~ it seems like there's something between you, I smell flirtation" she made a mischievous smile. "Maybe that's your boyfriend or maybe a just flirting," he added.

Someone like that? Will settle for someone as lowly as me?

I looked closely at the man sitting down. He looked decent, with fair and smooth skin, a well-shaped face, and a body that suited his black t-shirt and black pants.

And just by the watch, it's obvious he's wealthy.

I smiled bitterly, "Impossible."

"What's impossible about it? Those kinds of people really do chase after you."

"What do you mean?"I asked, turning to him with an eyebrow raised.

"Maybe you forgot that sir Paul desires you..." I immediately covered his mouth with my palm.

"Are you crazy? what if someone will hear and get an issue about that?, and say I only got to work here because of sir paul"

Aries has been my close friend since I started working here at the coffee shop because he was the first one to talk to me and help me whenever I needed it. But we rarely see each other outside because we both don't socialize much with people; we only meet when we're on duty.

I told him that because he also opened up to me that the shop owner's brother is said to be involved with other men and is already facing a sexual assault case.

I told aries before about what happened when Sir Paul, the brother of the owner of the place where I work, almost took advantage of me.

That happened when I had just started working at the coffee shop. It was around 8pm when I was off duty when he suddenly called, saying that Sir Matthew, the owner of the shop and his brother, wanted to see me at their house, supposedly about work. As for me, I didn't want to lose my job since I had just started, so I went right away. There, he greeted me at the gate and we entered their house together. I was puzzled because Sir Matthew wasn't there, but he said he was on his way. After a while, he handed me a wine glass filled with red wine and invited me to drink it for relaxation, but I didn't drink it. He suddenly sat beside me and unexpectedly grabbed my waist, then brought his face close to my ear, whispering that maybe I wanted my salary to increase as long as I didn't move too much. There, he brought his lips closer to my neck. I was surprised and pushed him away. I thought I could leave, but when I was about to open the door, I couldn't. I only heard him laugh behind me, and when he got closer, he immediately pushed me against the door while facing him. He stared at me from head to toe as if he wanted to possess my entire being, his gaze enticing. Even if we say that Sir Paul is good-looking, it's still wrong to impose oneself on someone who doesn't want it, especially in an indecent manner. And he has a scary look, like he's going to eat you alive.

Even though I was scared and nervous, I didn't let it show. Just when he was about to kiss me, I immediately slapped him and said that it wouldn't just affect him if he continued, but also his brother's life. He suddenly laughed and took the key from inside his pants and handed it to me.

"You have a point too, I won't waste my life on someone like you," sir Paul's last words to me. The fear I felt was replaced by a pain in my chest from the words he uttered. I was disrespected twice in two different ways.

Aries took my hand off his mouth, "I didn't say anything like that, okay?" "My point is," he said, "Be careful with that kind of guy."

"Why?"

"People like that, rich, they get what they want right away, they can't be trusted when it comes to relationships. They get bored quickly and find someone else just as fast," she replied seriously. "Or maybe worse, you'll be used in bed and then just thrown away on the street," he added.

I looked at the man sitting there holding now a caramel latte.

They can do anything for money.
