Prologue

Author’s POV

Danny was glaring at David angrily. Why? You ask. Well, it was all because for the last week David had been using crutches to walk. Now David a pretty honest kid, so everyone believed him when he told them that he had hurt my leg and back falling off my bike. Well everyone except Daniel, his best friend since who knows how long. He automatically knew that David was lying and had good reason to believe so especially since what David had told everyone was indeed a lie.

David never expected Daniel to believe him, mainly because they had been friends since the 3rd grade. Now I bet you’re wondering why he had to lie. Well, David was attacked by something supernatural, specifically, a vampire. Yeah, a vampire named Veltrix and get this he's a prince. What does this have to do with his limp? I'm getting to that. So Daniel continually keeps demanding that David tell him the truth. So he finally gave in and has promised him to explain everything Friday evening when he came over. 

“So David are you finally ready to tell me what really happened to your leg?” Daniel asked. “I did. I was riding home from school when…..”He said before stopping as he looked at Daniel’s expression and sighed. “David why can't you tell me the fucking truth?!!”Daniel exclaimed getting annoyed at his friend. “I am telling you the truth.”David lied once again. “David, your bike has been in my garage for the last two weeks,” Daniel stated disproving David’s little excuse. David sighed to himself and looked down at the floor. He knew he couldn’t keep this secret from his best friend forever. ‘Just tell him already. It’s not like he’s gonna believe you.’ said a voice in David’s head. ‘I know but it’s at least worth a try. And he’ll believe me once he sees you.’ David said back to the voice. “He thought to himself.   I took a deep breath and looked Daniel in the eye.“The truth is I got hurt when I was raped by a vampire.” Daniel was shocked and enraged. 

“Seriously David more lies.” He screamed obviously not believing David. “It’s the truth!” David exclaimed. “ Oh really? Vampires don’t exist!” “I thought so too.” Daniel sighed shaking his head. “Okay let’s just assume that you are telling the truth when did this supposed rape happen?”He asked. “Last night when I was out doing research for my column.” “Mmmh so where is this so-called ‘vampire’ right now? Cause last time I checked vampires only mate or in your case rape when they are seeking a mate whose side they can’t leave until after their official mating season.” “ Right here.Veltrix shows yourself.” David yelled out to an unknown figure.

“Um, who are you talking to?” Daniel asked. “Give him a second.” Daniel was about to say something when an unknown person appeared out of nowhere. “Daniel, meet Veltrix the jerky vampire who raped and claimed me as his soon to be mate.” “Hey. I wouldn’t exactly say raped.” Veltrix stated offend. David rolled his eyes at Veltrix’s remark and looked back at Daniel who was frozen in shock. It took Danny a few seconds to catch hold of himself and when he did he began to hyperventilate. ‘I had a feeling this would happen. He’s freaking out.’ David thought to himself grabbing a paper bag from his backpack. 

“OK calm down, take a deep breath”, David said putting a hand on his shoulder handing Daniel the paper bag to breathe into. Daniel took the bag and began breathing in and out of it trying to calm down. Once he did place the bag on the floor then looked at David with a calm expression. “Good. Better?” David asked. Daniel nodded his head letting his friend know that he had calmed down. “Good, maybe I should have started from the beginning,” David said aloud once his best friend had calmed down. “You think?” Veltrix said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. David glared at the young vampire who just put his hands up in defense. David just shook his head and looked back at Daniel. “ Ok, It all happened two weeks ago….”
