Episode 3

"At some point, you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart but not in your life."

...ARIANNA...

After I got discharged yesterday, I came back to work the next morning like nothing happened. My mom was against it because she wanted me to rest at home but I insisted. I don't want to be stuck at home and do nothing. And I'm feeling better, my mom was just paranoid. I understand her though because I never fainted before even if I work late and barely take a rest.

I came back from my reverie when I heard a knock on my office door. I never got to answer before my mom entered my office with a paper bag in her hand. "Mom, what are you doing here?" I asked as I stood up to greet her.

She sat on the couch in the middle of my office. She put down the paper bag she was holding. "I heard from Shane that you barely eat lunch. So I'm here to bring you your lunch." She says and pulls out what's inside the paper bag. It's two lunch boxes. The first one she opened had a sandwich in it and the second one was pasta.

"Mom, you don't have to do this." I said as I sat down across her.

"No, from now on, I'll bring you your lunch. I've always told you to eat lunch or eat your food on time but you didn't. Look what happened, you fainted because of your stubbornness. "She started to lecture me and I just sighed. "Your work won't fill your stomach. So you better eat food not your work." She continued.

"Yeah, yeah, I will." I muttered. I reached the lunch box that was filled with pasta and started eating. I offered my mom but she says she's done eating.

I ate quitely while my mom went on talking about some stuff. After eating, I thanked my mom before she left. I then go back to work.

After work, I didn't go home immediately. I stopped by the park that I used to go with together with Gabrielle when we were young.

This park was where Gabrielle and I met. Where our friendship started. This place was the witness of everything that happened to my life. Every time I'm sad, Gabrielle would always bring me here but now, I'm all alone. No one would accompany me anymore if ever I want to go here. Because the only person who would do that has his own partner to accompany now.

I smiled sadly. I didn't notice that I was already crying until someone lent a handkerchief in front of me. I looked up and saw a man. "You okay?" the man asked.

I immediately wiped away my unshed tears in embarrassment. Gosh, someone saw me crying! "Uh, yes." I answered without looking at the man in front of me.

In my peripheral vision, I saw him sitting beside me. "Here," he again offered his handkerchief. I hesitated whether I should accept it or not but reached for it so.

"Thank you," I muttered silently, enough for him to hear as I wiped my face—especially my wet eyes with his handkerchief.

"It's nothing," he said and silence followed. After a while of silence he suddenly offered his hand for a handshake. "Tyler, by the way." he said.

I hesitantly shook his hand. "Arianna," I muttered my name and let go of his hand.

"So, why were you crying, Miss Arianna?" Tyler suddenly asked.

I cleared my throat. "Aria, just call me Aria. And to answer your question, uhm I just remember something sad which makes me cry." I lied swiftly.

"That must be really sad because a girl would not cry without a reason." Yeah, it's really sad. Really really sad and hurts.

"I—uh, I should be going." I said as I stood up from the bench. I looked at the handkerchief in my hands that was wet with my tears and was suddenly embarrassed. This stranger saw me crying and offered me his handkerchief. I looked back at Tyler who was already looking at me, making me blush. "Uhm—uh, thank you for the handkerchief. It's wet with my tears so I'll just buy you a new one." I said, still embarrassed by what happened.

Tyler stood up and smiled at me. "It's okay, you can keep it."

A small polite smile formed on my lips. "Thank you again." I murmured and was about to walk away when he spoke.

"Whatever that is that makes you cry, I hope that you'll be okay." he says. I looked back at him and smiled again before taking my leave.

I walked back to my car that was parked nearby and went inside then drove off to my house. When I reached home, my mom called me asking if I was already home. I said yes and she kept on asking questions or reprimanding me—like eating on time and stuff.

My mom is sweet and caring. She always worries about me too much making dad and I sometimes just sighed and said 'yeah'. My mom always treats me like a baby girl while my dad spoils me. I understand them because I'm their only daughter or what they always called their 'unica hija'. Though they spoiled me too much, I didn't take advantage of it, I know my limits. I'm not some spoiled brat who spends money here and there.

A sigh left my lips as I lay down on my soft and comfy bed. My bed has always been my source of relaxation. It always relaxes me. I felt like whenever I lay on my bed, I forget everything. Everything means my problems, heartaches and all negative things that went through my mind. My bed was my own cloud nine.

I smiled at the thought as I slowly drifted to a deep slumber.
