"Old Wounds and New Battles"

Jimin: “Fuck you!”

Yoongi: “Sorry, I’m too out of your level.”

Jimin stormed off, his frustration bubbling over. He couldn’t stand how easily Yoongi could get under his skin.who does he think he is?

jimin pov-

AISH, this guy! What does he even think of himself? Why does he have to be so "Yoongi"?

It’s frustrating that I can annoy anyone, but not him. He gets on my nerves every fucking time.I can’t believe he said that! “Out of my level”?

Like, who even talks like that? So smug and full of himself. He thinks he’s some kind of genius or something, always acting like he’s above everyone else.

I don’t even care if he’s quiet or cool or whatever, I’m so over him. I can’t stand him. He’s insufferable, and I’m done with him.

Yoongi's POV:

The fuck? Does he think walking away will give him the “I am the wiser person” badge?

He’s a pain in the ass.

I don’t know why I let him get to me, but I swear, every time we talk, he gets under my skin. He’s so... loud and reckless, always acting like he knows everything.

And the way he always thinks he can mess with me, like I’m some kind of easy target?

Whatever. I don’t need this drama. I can’t stand him. We don’t even get along.

They both walked around campus that day with the same thought swirling in their heads—I hate him.

They passed each other in the hallway without so much as a glance. The tension was thick, but neither of them was willing to admit the truth: the more they tried to push each other away, the more they found themselves drawn in. But for now, they were stuck in this cycle of irritation, convinced they could never be friends—or anything more.

But deep down, neither of them could deny that their arguments, their bickering... it made them feel something. Even if they hated to admit it.

Whatever... I don’t care about him. Both of them thought, though in the back of their minds, they knew it wasn’t true.

"Whatever... I don’t care about him"

. Both of them thought, though in the back of their minds, they knew it wasn’t true.

As the days passed, something was shifting. Neither Taehyung nor Jungkook, nor Yoongi nor Jimin could quite put their finger on it, but they could feel it.

Taehyung—who had once been arrogant, cocky, and used to pushing everyone around—was slowly starting to change. The harsh edge in his words wasn’t as sharp anymore, the smirk on his face wasn’t as constant. There was something more vulnerable in the way he looked at the world now, even if he couldn’t admit it. He was still Taehyung, but every now and then, when his guard slipped, there was a softness in him that hadn’t been there before. It was subtle, but noticeable to those who were paying attention.

Jungkook, too, felt it. His days at the party, the punch, the anger—everything that had been so consuming before—was fading, though he didn’t know why. The nightmares still haunted him, but the way he reacted to people now was different. He was more open, less defensive, even though he couldn’t pinpoint the moment things started to change. Maybe it was the way Taehyung had looked at him, or the quiet moments of awkward silence between them that were becoming less uncomfortable.

Both were still trying to deny it. They couldn’t accept the truth: they were slowly letting go of their old selves.

But the cause of these changes? It wasn’t something they saw coming, or even recognized yet. It wasn’t some magical shift. No, it was the influence of their own enemies, disguised as petty rivals, who were unknowingly causing this gradual change.

Jimin and Yoongi were, in their own ways, doing the same. Jimin’s usual sharp remarks, his over-the-top teasing, had become more restrained. He wasn’t as quick to throw out insults, and when he did, it felt less satisfying. Something in him was softening, not just toward Yoongi but toward others too. He wasn’t entirely sure why, but there were moments when he caught himself smiling more, feeling more relaxed. Not everything had to be a fight anymore.

Yoongi, on the other hand, was starting to notice the same. He wasn’t as closed off as he used to be. The sarcasm was still there, but there was something gentler in the way he interacted with others now. When Jimin teased him, something in him no longer felt the need to snap back with sharp words. He found himself thinking twice before shutting people out. Maybe it was because of how Jimin had started to challenge him, to call him out in ways no one else had, or maybe it was the way their constant bickering was evolving. Whatever it was, it made him feel something unfamiliar. Something like... connection.

The irony? None of them knew that their transformation was tied to the very people they thought they hated. They were changing because of each other—Taehyung and Jungkook, Jimin and Yoongi—fighting, arguing, pushing each other away, but, in reality, pulling each other closer in ways they couldn’t yet understand.

The changes were slow, almost imperceptible. It wasn’t love yet, not by any means, but it was something. Something bigger than any petty rivalry, any fight, or any insult. Something they weren’t ready to admit, but something that would eventually bring them all together in a way they never expected.

But for now, they were still caught in the game. The game of pretending that nothing was changing, even though everything was.
