The following days felt like a fog to Jungkook. He spent most of his time in a haze, barely focusing on his classes, his mind constantly drifting back to that moment. The argument. The punch. Taehyung’s smug grin. The tension. It was eating at him, gnawing at his insides. He hated how things had turned out, and part of him just wanted to rewind it all—to take back the words, to take back the anger.
But he couldn’t.
Jungkook knew he had to apologize, but every time he tried, something held him back. Taehyung had always been someone he didn’t really care for, but this was different. This wasn’t just some random guy. Taehyung was a mirror—a reflection of everything Jungkook hated about himself. The arrogance. The pride. The walls. And maybe that’s why Jungkook couldn’t bring himself to admit he was wrong. It felt too much like admitting that everything he was feeling—everything he hated about himself—was right.
But then, as he was walking through campus, something caught his eye. Taehyung, standing alone by the student lounge. He wasn’t acting cocky or arrogant; there was no smirk on his face. He just looked... lost. Small, even. It was the first time Jungkook had ever seen him like this.
His heart skipped a beat. Maybe this was his chance to fix things. But before Jungkook could move, Taehyung glanced up, catching his eye.
"You still here, puppy?" Taehyung’s voice was low, but there was a certain softness to it that Jungkook wasn’t used to hearing.
Jungkook stiffened. The old part of him wanted to snap back, to call Taehyung out again, but the weight of the fight still hung heavy between them. "What do you want, Taehyung?" he asked, his voice surprisingly calm.
Taehyung leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. "You really thought you could just apologize and we’d be friends again, huh?" His tone wasn’t as mocking as before, but it was still taunting.
Jungkook didn’t know how to respond. Part of him wanted to lash out, but another part of him—something softer, something deeper—just wanted to make things right.
"Look," Jungkook started, the words coming out harder than he meant them to. "I messed up, alright? I shouldn’t have punched you. I shouldn’t have said half the stuff I said,Alright?."
Taehyung’s expression softened for a split second, but he quickly masked it with his usual smirk. "So, you’re all sorry now? After all that?" he asked, eyes narrowing. "And you think I’m just gonna forgive you, just like that?"
The two of them stood there, in silence, neither one knowing how to move forward.
Then, Taehyung sighed, shaking his head. "You really are a pain in the ass, you know that?"
Jungkook almost laughed despite himself. "Right back at you."
Taehyung raised an eyebrow, the familiar cocky grin returning. "Well, it looks like we're stuck with each other now, aren't we? Better get used to it, puppy."
Jungkook rolled his eyes, but the tension between them had shifted. It was still there, lingering, but it wasn’t as heavy anymore.
