The legs moved quickly towards the hall. What he knew was that all the students had been instructed to gather there. He was really shocked earlier when he was in the bathroom.
‘Once again, attention to all students! Please gather in the hall right now!’
The call was made again. It seemed that some students were still too lazy to enter the hall. If he had known earlier, he would have moved from one classroom to another, or in simpler terms, he would have patrolled.
“Why are we gathering in the hall? Is there a fire drill? Why didn’t I know about it? I’m the head student, you know!” Arsher said to himself, frustrated that he, the highest-ranking student in the school organization, didn’t know about this sooner.
But it was impossible that it was a fire drill, as there had been no emergency alarm. This was definitely for some other reason they had to gather there.
Now, Arsher stood at the door of the hall. He wore a cold expression, hoping that the lower-ranking prefects controlling the movement of students would be intimidated by him. What were prefects to be afraid of?
A slight smile appeared on his face when he spotted a familiar figure. As soon as that figure looked at him, he waved his hand.
“Ethan!”
Arsher walked over to Ethan, slung his arm around his friend’s shoulder, and they walked together to join their class line. This was their usual routine whenever they found themselves in the hall.
“Why are we here? Any program?” Ethan asked while instructing another student to pick up some trash.
“I don’t know. The useless head prefect didn’t tell me anything. Who chose her to be the head prefect? I don’t like her style; she’s so troublesome.” Arsher complained.
Well, no matter what, he would never agree to that. But for some reason, all the teachers disagreed with him. That girl definitely had something.
“I feel the same. I don’t like her style either. She wastes so much time on small things. What if, when this is just an unnecessary assembly, we mess with her?” Ethan suggested with a sly grin.
“Deal, but first I need to handle these kids.” Arsher walked away from Ethan, just to the side of the hall.
He cleared his throat to fix his voice. “ALL STUDENTS, PLEASE LINE UP BY CLASS IN COUNT OF 5!!!”
Immediately, the other students scrambled into their respective lines. If they were late, they knew they would be punished! They also knew that the punishments given by the head student were different from the rest.
“4!”
“3!”
“2!”
“1! SILENCE!!!” Arsher’s final shout made the room go quiet.
Crick, crick… Crick, crick...
Arsher ascended the stage with style and charisma, exuding an aura of intimidation.
His eyes scanned the room. Due to his mild OCD, he felt discomfort seeing the crooked lines of students.
“STRAIGHTEN THE LINES!” Only then did Arsher smile slightly. He would only give this order, as it was his job...
“Head prefect, where are you?” Arsher turned to the side. Behind the clear glass window, he could see a figure of a girl turning on the microphone.
“Yes, what’s up?” she answered with a question.
Arsher gritted his teeth. “You can ask me why? Get up here. Amanda, you need to explain everything to me.”
“Wait.” Amanda climbed onto the stage with a microphone in hand. “What do you want me to explain?”
“Why did you call all the students here? Do you know how hot it is here? I don’t want to sit here for too long,” Arsher crossed his arms, finding it difficult because the sleeves of his shirt were a little tight.
He wanted to buy a new shirt, but it felt wasteful. It was the last year anyway. What could he do...
“Oh, today we’re giving the appointment letters to the new manager of the Badminton Club.” Amanda smiled sweetly.
Arsher sighed. This was such a waste of time. To see who would become the Badminton Club manager, everyone had to come to the hall.
He didn’t want to go, and it was unbearably hot.
“Is that it? Why didn’t you just do this in the school square earlier?” Arsher raised an eyebrow. They had gathered in the school square earlier, and yet the appointment letters weren’t given out there.
“You’re wasting our time, Amanda. Act your age. You’re not some kid who doesn’t know that time is precious.” Arsher descended from the stage, walking back to his class line, leaving Amanda dumbfounded.
“You’re amazing, Arsher. You can give orders to everyone at once,” Ethan said as soon as Arsher arrived.
That statement got no response.
“Arsher, are you okay?” Ethan tapped Arsher’s shoulder. He wondered if something was wrong with his friend. After all, Arsher had never let them speak alone before.
Arsher cleared his throat loudly. “SIT!” he commanded, and everyone else immediately sat on the floor.
“She’s wasting our time, as usual. We can’t even make her our girlfriend.” Arsher looked at Ethan, making a remark about Amanda.
The sound of the microphone tapping caught their attention. There, Amanda was practicing her speech next to Velvet.
“See? She’s wasting more time. Why didn’t she just read the script earlier? Useless. Next time, just swallow the paper.” Arsher said loudly, intentionally wanting the other students to hear his frustrations.
Everyone already knew, and understood, that Arsher didn’t like Amanda! Who gave her the head prefect position?
“Good morning, everyone.” Amanda began speaking into the microphone.
“Good morning.” Only a few students responded. Most of them didn’t like Amanda’s time-wasting ways.
It had been a while since they had heard Arsher complain like this.
“Today, the Badminton Club will present the appointment letter to the new manager.”
“Therefore, we invite the Principal, Mr. Sylvester, accompanied by Mr. Charlie, the Badminton Club Chairman, to come to the stage. Please welcome them with respect.”
Applause filled the space. Just making noise, so it wouldn’t be too silent.
“As you all know, we conducted an interview for the Badminton Club manager search before the semester break. This program had 175 students and 20 club members participating.” Amanda continued with a smile, thinking that everyone was eager to hear the results of the interview.
Arsher snorted loudly. “STOP GIVING US USELESS POINTS! JUST GET TO THE APPOINTMENT LETTER!”
It was so hot! Even though the air conditioning was on, it couldn’t handle all of them.
Amanda looked down at her script, embarrassed. “Please welcome Ahmad Ash bin Affan from class 6 Amethyst!”
“Huuuuuuuu....”
“Mini Prince!”
Arsher glanced at Ash, who was not far from him, without a change in expression. Ash’s face was so funny. If he had his phone, Ash’s ugly face would definitely go viral, end up on FYP, and trending.
Ash stood up from his seat and walked onto the stage. He accepted the appointment letter with a smile. That’s Mini Prince, smaller and shorter compared to his younger brother.
Arsher sighed. “Really?”
