The warehouse was silent, its steel beams creaking in the wind. Noah stood at the entrance, his breath visible in the frosty night air. His heart pounded in his chest as he stepped inside. He had come to end this. To put an end to Marcus Kane’s twisted game.
Noah’s power hummed in his palms, his fingers crackling with light. He could feel the weight of the decision pressing down on him. This was it. There was no turning back now.
“You’ve come,” a voice echoed in the darkness.
Noah tensed, his gaze snapping toward the source. Marcus Kane stepped into the dim light, his expression calm, almost expectant.
“I knew you would,” Kane said, his voice smooth and unbothered. “You’ve always been so predictable, Noah.”
“Stop,” Noah’s voice was firm. “I don’t want to hear any more of your lies. I’m done with this.”
Kane’s eyes flickered with amusement. “You think you can stop it? You think you can change what’s been set in motion?”
Noah clenched his fists. “I don’t care about your plans, Kane. I’m not a part of your world.”
“You never had a choice, Noah,” Kane said, taking a step forward. “Your powers, your destiny—they’ve always been connected to me.”
Noah raised his hand, and the light around him intensified. “I’m not your pawn.”
Kane didn’t flinch. “You were always meant to be a part of this, Noah. The powers you have—don’t you see? They were never yours. They were meant for something much greater.”
Noah’s heart raced. He felt the pull of Kane’s words, but he fought against it. “I’m not part of your plan,” he said, louder now. “I’m going to destroy it.”
Without warning, Noah unleashed a blast of light from his palm, sending a shockwave through the warehouse. Kane barely moved, but the force knocked him back. For a moment, Noah felt a surge of triumph. Maybe, just maybe, he could stop this.
But Kane didn’t look surprised. He stood up slowly, wiping the dust from his coat. “You don’t get it, do you?” Kane’s voice was quieter now, almost sympathetic. “This was always going to happen.”
Noah lunged at him, his body propelled by anger. But Kane raised a hand, and Noah froze mid-air, suspended by an invisible force.
“You were always the key,” Kane said, his voice cold. “You were never meant to escape.”
Noah’s power flared, but it was like fighting against a wall. Kane’s grip was too strong. As Noah’s body was held in place, he realized with a sickening feeling that Kane was right.
But then something changed. Noah’s eyes narrowed, and he focused on the one thing Kane couldn’t control—his will.
With every ounce of his strength, Noah broke free, sending a final burst of light that shattered the air around them.
The ground trembled beneath them.
