Episode 4: The Beginning of Something More

V and Jimin are sitting on the rooftop of their dorm, gazing out at the city lights below. It’s a quiet night, and they’ve been talking about nothing in particular for hours, as they often do. But tonight, there’s a different energy between them. Something unspoken lingers in the air.

Jimin (playfully nudging V): “You’ve been quiet tonight. What’s on your mind?”

V smiles softly, his eyes still focused on the horizon. He’s been feeling strange around Jimin lately—nervous, even. It’s new and confusing. They’ve been close friends for so long, but recently, every time Jimin smiles at him or touches his arm, V’s heart races in a way it never did before.

V (shaking his head with a grin): “Just thinking about how we’ve been through so much together. It’s kind of crazy, right?”

Jimin (laughing): “Yeah, tell me about it. We’ve seen each other at our worst, for sure.”

They both chuckle, but as the laughter dies down, a comfortable silence settles between them. Jimin leans back against the railing, his gaze turning upward toward the stars. He’s been feeling the same strange pull lately, the same flutter in his chest when he’s around V. He doesn’t know when it started, but it’s been growing stronger, and it’s starting to scare him a little.

Jimin (quietly, almost to himself): “We’ve always had each other’s backs, haven’t we?”

V (turning to look at Jimin, his expression soft): “Always.”

Their eyes meet, and for a moment, neither of them looks away. There’s something in the way V is looking at him that makes Jimin’s heart skip a beat. He wants to say something, to ask about the shift in their friendship, but he doesn’t know how to bring it up.

The air between them grows heavier, filled with the tension of unsaid words and unacknowledged feelings. V swallows hard, wondering if Jimin can feel it too. He hesitates, then speaks, his voice quieter than before.

V (softly): “Do you ever… think about us? Like, in a different way?”

Jimin’s eyes widen slightly, his heart pounding. He wasn’t expecting V to bring it up, but the question is out there now, hanging in the air between them. He looks away for a moment, collecting his thoughts. When he looks back, there’s a hint of nervousness in his smile.

Jimin (smirking, but his voice is softer): “I… guess I’ve thought about it.”

V feels his breath catch in his throat. He wasn’t sure what he expected Jimin to say, but hearing it confirmed makes his chest tighten in both fear and excitement.

V (tentatively): “And… what do you think about it?”

Jimin bites his lip, suddenly feeling shy under V’s gaze. They’ve been best friends for so long, but now, standing on the edge of something more, he feels like they’re both holding their breath, waiting for the other to jump.

Jimin (honestly, but nervous): “I don’t know… it feels… different, but not in a bad way. I just don’t know where to go from here.”

V nods slowly, understanding completely. He feels the same. They’ve always been close, but these new feelings are unfamiliar territory, and neither of them wants to ruin what they have.

V shifts closer to Jimin, their knees almost touching now. His hand twitches at his side, and for a moment, he thinks about reaching out, about breaking the invisible line between them. But he hesitates, unsure of what Jimin wants.

V (gently): “I don’t want to mess this up… us.”

Jimin’s heart softens at V’s words. He can see the sincerity in his eyes, and it makes him feel braver. Slowly, he reaches out and places his hand over V’s. The touch is light, but it sends a wave of warmth through both of them.

Jimin (softly): “Maybe… we don’t have to figure it all out right now. Maybe we just… take it slow?”

V glances down at their hands, then back at Jimin, a small smile tugging at his lips. The tension in his chest eases, and he nods, grateful for the moment.

V (smiling): “Yeah… slow sounds good.”

 the two of them sit in silence, their hands resting together. There’s no rush, no pressure. For now, it’s enough to just know that they’re both feeling the same way, that something is changing between them, and they’re both okay with letting it unfold naturally.

The night stretches on, the stars twinkling above them, and for the first time in a while, V and Jimin feel at peace—ready to see where this new path will take them.
