Did you discuss with him about marriage?" Sam asked loud enough that the mandem heard what we were talking about. Everyone looked at us as if they too wanted to know the full details about my marriage.
"Sh!" I shushed her looking away.
"You are getting married?" Neal asked surprised.
"Not in a million years." I stated as a hint of embarrassment flushed my face, dager eyes fixed on Sam afterwards. She was the one who started this whole discussion.
"Great. I was a little worried that my pal here won't have someone to spend his life with." Neal spoke looking past me to the dangerous stranger who had caught my eye.
For a second there our eyes met. What felt like an eternity was swap in just mere seconds before he broke the contant getting back to his half filled glass of whisky.
That might have bunned since he gulped it down dry, but to my surprise he had no expression at all. In fact he poured another glass for himself and drank the same way as the first time. I might have expected him to be drank by now but nope, he was the same as I saw him. Hard facial expression to read. Calm that I started to doubt he was even a person. His eyes fixed at his phone. Neal spoke to him once in a while and he responded with just a simple answer.
"Oh shit!" I cursed once my eyes laid sight of Harvey straight ahead past our booth.
"What is it?" Sam asked when I hid my face down the table dragging hers too.
"We are toast." I whispered.
"Why?" she whispered back.
"It's Harvey." I pointed down the table signalling the front direction.
"Where?" she asked peeping past the table to the front.
"I can't see him."
"Huh," I spoke peeping too.
There was no one there. We both sat straight up as I tried looking to other directions.
"Looking for someone?" We heard a familiar voice behind us.
"Harvey." Sam pretended to be happy to see him.
"Long time no see." I added salt to injury.
"Young missy. You and I in private." he spoke in a friendly manner that I thought he was all cool seeing me here.
"Okay." I sheepishly agreed.
"You too missy." He directed it to Sam who was about to drink the content remaining in her glass before Harvey took it away.
"Why me...?" she asked in a dragging tone indicating she was already drunk.
"I bet you know why." Harvey spoke before walking away.
Both Sam and I said our goodbyes as we struggled to take our jackets and bags. My heels were killing me since I was already tipsy enough to sway me over left to right while walking.
"What the heck are you two doing here?" He asked angrily once we were a step or two away from the booth.
Oh oh. we were in for a lecture now. He was just saving us face the first time.
"Fun." Sam spoke while leaning his head on my shoulder.
"Fun. Seriously." he got annoyed.
"Yeah fun." I said
"Don't even get me started young lady" He yelled at me making the guys to murmur something to each other.
"Stop. It's embarrassing." I raised my concern as I whispered.
"Ha! Now you know it's embarrassing. Do you know how I felt, being called in that my girl was having company with strangers, far from home and I didn't know about it."
"I meant to tell you." I lied.
"Bel, don't you dare lie to me. What happened? I clearly gave you to Ten to drive you back home. Now am seeing you in a fancy night club miles away from home dressed like a whore knowing clear you said you were tired the last time I saw you." he paused. "What does that make you look like?"
"What the heck... A whore..." I yelled.
Sam pinched me on my arm signalling me to stop. This could be a lot worse if I didn't calm down.
For a second he eyed us in anger. "I expected you to be more responsible than this."
With that he walked away. I felt my eyes become watery as a tear drop escape from my right. I was so hurt that I didn't look back. Making my way to the stairs, I felt Sam taking pace behind me. My mind was foggy and the only thing I wanted to do was lie down and cry my heart out.
"Bel wait for me." she shouted.
I ignored her and followed Harvey outside knowing clear she'd soon follow back.
"Get in." Harvey commanded the both of us to enter his black Chevrolet Suv which was parked at the entrance.
Soon we hit the road in silence before Harvey decided to break the deafening silence. Sam was already past asleep on my lap while I struggled to keep myself awake. I was more angrier that I didn't try to fall asleep.
"What hell were you thinking, Bel." he asked his eyes on me while seated besides me.
"I didn't mean to..." I dragged.
"Mean what! Bel, you are not getting the point here."
"Seriously what do you want me to say, sorry that I wanted to have some alone time and fun and not have you around, mmh," I whispered angrily in order not to wake Sam eyes deep stare on his.
"You bitch. Am done." He paused. "Ten stop the car." he ordered.
He alighted after giving ten clear instructions to get us to the helipad and then home safely. I tried apologising but it turned on a deaf ear. He was already gone by the time I wanted to sincerely apologize.
"So niosy." Sam complained half asleep.
"Go back to sleep." I said to her tapping her back to sleep.
My mind roamed thinking of every possibile way I made the whole situation worse. I could have just apologised from the beginning then things wouldn't have turned out this way.
"We are here." Ten said.
Slowly I woke up Sam.
"Mis..." Ten called once I had put Sam back to sleep in the chopper.
"I know this is not my place to say this but..." He dragged.
"It's okay. Am all ears."
"He's just angry give him some time he'll come around. Right now he's just disappointed." he stated.
"I know but why would he be disappointed. It just slipped my mind about telling him I was going to accompany Sam." I said.
"The person who called him am sure he was the one at fault. In Spyce Astoria, he also has enemies there. I bet they kind of hit the nerve when they delivered the message. Plus..." he dragged the last part.
"Plus what?" I asked.
"Plus the people you were in company with they are dangerous so stay away." he warned.
So bad I wanted him to elaborate more and in details but the chopper wasn't going to let me stay for a second more. I bid him bye and soon we were in air going home.

" My head hurts so bad. "Sam complained the moment she woke up.
" Meds on the counter take them. " I yelled while still in the laundry room.
" What happened. I remember seeing Harvey and... "
She looked at me sadly then closed her mouth using her palm. Her eyes still on me.
"Are you okay? Did he get angry or something? Was it that bad?"
"Sam I don't know. We had a fight in the car and he bailed out on me." I spoke as tears stung my eyes. My voice became shaky.
"Am so sorry to cause you all of these." she apologised.
"No it's okay. Maybe it was bound to happen. We both have been having issues." I said to her hoping she'd feel much better and not blame herself.
"Was that supposed to make me feel better cause it sure didn't." she complained while drying a tear that escaped from my eye.
"No worries, I'll go talk to him when he calms down."
I paused. "Oh! That reminds me, who were those dudes from last night?" I asked.
"Don't know, don't care." she stated.
The laundry machine dinged and I got in action to get my stuffs.
"What do you mean 'don't know, don't care'?"I was confused now. She chatted with them as if she was acquainted with them.
"A friend told me about them. They are rich so I kind of mingled and that was that. Then the bet came, had to get the money or else I'd spend the night with Neal."
"Thats why you insisted so much."
She nodded slightly.
"Good for you. Now you divide the money 50/50." I was dead serious now.
"No...." she pretended to cry. "Come on Bel, I did most of the talking. 60/40."she tried to bargain.
" Fine. "I agreed.
We both walked to where I usually hang my clothes for sundrying. Soon I got in action hanging them up while Sam sat watching me.
" By the way did you notice the handsome tall dangerous looking guy watching you? "she asked.
" Who are you talking about? "
" The one who sat opposite you. Guess his name was..." she dragged trying to figure out what his name was.
I was curious to know what his name could possibly be. His looks was so attractive that it gives me goosebumps every time I remember how his eyes laid on me for the briefest moment.
" Something like Aidan Christopher." she spoke.
For a while there I kept repeating his name over and over in my head.
"Bel are you listening ?"
"Yeah." I lied.
"Anyways what's for lunch am hungry."
The rest of the day went smooth but my heart ached so much. Every single word that left Harvey's mouth felt like sharp sword piercing my heart every time the words kept repeating as if it was just a second ago.
"Bel will you be okay if leave you on your own?"
"Don't worry about me. I'll go to bed early."
With that she left, leaving me by myself and my inner demons. Ten minutes later I heard the door unlocking the closed. Footsteps coming closer to me. Didn't need to look since I knew that was Sam forgetting something.
" Nadia. "I heard Harvey's voice.
" Babe. "I was do damn glad to see him.
There he was standing a step or two away from the couch I had laid on. His navy blue tax looked so fucking good on him. Guess he just got off work.
" Want me to help? "I asked standing from where I was kneeling on the couch.
" Am good. "
That simple answer already said a lot. He was still angry at me. Slowly I made my way to him, half unbutton his shirt before he stopped me as he held my palms to his chest. My eyes shifted from his chest to meet his eyes.
"I hate it when we fight and you know that." he said.
"I know."
"Don't ever make me get that angry at you. Understood?"
"I understand." I whispered.
He slightly closed the space between us before taking me by my lips. The kiss was soft and tender but it didn't last long. He cut me midway as I was trying to kindle the moment.
"Talk to me Bel, about last night."
"Nothing happened. Harvey will you stop." I tried walking away but he held me firm on my waist little closer than the previous time.
"Why are getting angry. I just want to know."
His face clearly showed how desperate he was.
"Sam called me to accompany her. She was already there when Mayfield and I got there. We just enjoyed the drinks and music. After that, that's when I saw you." I explained in details.
"Okay." he stated.
"What do you mean okay?"
"Promise me, you'll never leave without telling me."
His eyes were more dangerous than I've ever seen him be. Yah we argued a lot in the past three years but this was different. Something was not right somewhere. He was dead serious about this.
" So we good?" he asked.
I nodded.
" Nah! I need words missy."
"we are good."
He slightly smiled. That was what I had been yearning to see from him.
"Where's my smile then?"
Slightly I smiled bottling up all my tears that I couldn't hold if we argued again.
