Chapter 7: "The Unexpected Twist"

Emily's mind raced as she tried to process Max's words. She wanted to believe him, but a part of her still doubted his intentions.

Just as she was about to respond, Max's phone rang. He hesitated before answering, his expression tense.

"Yes, Mother," he said, his voice firm but respectful.

Emily's ears perked up as she listened to Max's side of the conversation. It seemed like his mother was not happy about their relationship.

As Max hung up the phone, Emily asked, "What was that about?"

Max sighed, rubbing his temples. "My mother doesn't approve of us. She wants me to marry someone else."

Emily's heart sank. She had been so caught up in their whirlwind romance that she hadn't considered the possibility of parental disapproval.

But then, Max surprised her. "I don't care what my mother thinks, Emily. I want to be with you."

Emily's heart soared as Max took her hand, his eyes burning with intensity.

Just as they shared a passionate kiss, Emily's phone rang. She hesitated before answering, her heart racing with anticipation.

And then, she heard the voice on the other end. A voice that made her blood run

cold ....

Chapter 8: "The Shocking Truth"

Emily's eyes widened as she listened to the voice on the other end of the line. It was a woman, and she sounded furious.

"Emily, you need to stay away from Max," the woman spat. "He's engaged to me, and we're getting married in two weeks."

Emily felt like she had been punched in the gut. She couldn't breathe. She couldn't think.

"Who is this?" Emily managed to stammer.

"My name is Sophia, and I'm Max's fiancée," the woman replied, her voice dripping with venom. "And you, Emily, are just a disposable plaything for Max. He's using you to get back at me."

Emily's world crashed around her. She felt like she was living in a nightmare.

As she tried to process this shocking truth, Max's face turned white. He looked like he had seen a ghost.

"Sophia, please..." Max started, but Sophia cut him off.

"Don't bother, Max. I know all about your little game. And Emily, dear, you deserve better than a cheater like Max."

With that, Sophia hung up, leaving Emily shattered and confused.

Emily turned to Max, her eyes blazing. "Is it true?" she demanded.

Max hesitated, his eyes darting back and forth. And then, he nodded.

"Yes, it's true," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "But please, Emily, let me explain..."

Emily's heart raced as she tried to process this shocking revelation. She didn't know what to believe or who to trust. All she knew was that her world had been turned upside down...
