Episode-9: Parents at doorstep

Supermarket,

After packing up the luggage, Ethan called for another car and sent back all her stuff to the Jade Garden; meanwhile, he took her back with him in another car.

On their way to Jade Garden, Genesis asked him to stop the car at the nearest supermarket as she wanted to buy some groceries to cook dinner tonight by herself.

Ethan doesn't want her to tire herself, but she does not listen by saying.

"This is the day we got married; a dinner cooked by me can be considered a celebration for us on this special day. Let me cook tonight. I don't usually cook as I am often busy with my research work. You better not complain to me that I can't cook most of the time in the future."

"I won't. If you can't then I can do this." Ethan immediately said.

In the end, Ethan gives in to her; the least he can do is to help her with the dinner.

I also got married, not just her, so I also ought to do something for her. She wants a real relationship and I want to move on in my life.

I have wasted five years of my life now it's time to live my life as I should. The past is the past now. I won't turn back to reminiscence about the past. I don't want to hurt someone who shows trust in me and wants to be with me for real.

"How's it?" Genesis brought a spoonful of soup to his mouth, near his lips, intending to let him taste.

He also came into the kitchen to help her with dinner; when he was in a daze, a hand stretched out towards him, bringing a spoonful of soup for him to taste.

Ethan was startled for a moment and looked at her, finding her anticipated gaze on his face and eventually opened his mouth and drank the soup from her hand.

"It's good. The taste is on point." He slowly said without lying.

"Great" Genesis smiles, her eyes curving into the beautiful crescent arch.

Ethan's heart shook a little seeing her smiling so happily and carefree.

Both of them prepared some dishes for the dinner, Ethan went to take the wine bottle from the seller to complete the dinner and their marriage celebration.

THUD

"Ahh!! What's wrong with this man now? Why is he showing tantrums like some brainless fellow?"

Diana threw her phone on the ground, irritated that Ethan did not pick up her calls, which she made or did not even reply to her messages.

"This is too much. What does he think of himself? It was his whim to get married, so suddenly, why is he being hard on me now?"

Diana lay on her bed with her hands over her head, in a starfish position, when her phone buzzed on the ground. She immediately picked up, thinking that Ethan finally got the conscience to call her back. Now, she'll let him know his mistake clearly and make sure to let him get his lesson this time, but it was her delusional thoughts because it was not Ethan but her father, Frank.

Irritated as she was, she still picked up the call and, in a voice full of annoyance, spoke, "What's now, Dad?"

Frank, on the other hand, holds his temple, "Diana, why don't you come home, and we shall talk?"

"If it's again about those stupid boring classes and lectures and about the topic of working under the company then I am not coming back. I have told you, I don't want to do anything boring like working for the rest of my life. I am still young and have a long life to live. Why should I bury my youth with work and work? There are many fun things to do aside from working like a machine." She resolutely said.

This is not the first time she has talked about this in such a tone. Frank Gomez, her father, only has her as his child, and the Gomez couple has always pinned all their hopes on her, their daughter, but Diana just doesn't want to learn anything or work in the company.

One time, her father asked her to work in the company, and after arguing for days, she agreed but on the condition that she'd be General Manager and refused to start as an intern or from the bottom. Father Frank was not willing because the position was too high for her, and he knew his daughter very well. She was never interested in business; she just knew how to play outside and spend money. No matter how he tried to make her understand all waste.

Still, in the end, Father Frank gives in to Diana, but within fourteen days, she messes up a big project and makes a huge mess in the company. Gomez Group suffered hundreds of millions of losses, and he had a big quarrel with Diana; the argument ended with Diana resigning and going abroad to relax and fix her mood, leaving the mess behind for her father to shoulder.

He was anxious and worried because of the loss, looking everywhere for help and thinking of ways to cover the financial void but Ethan adopted him and lent him a helping hand. He did not tell Diana about this matter because Ethan didn't want her to know about this.

Father Frank sighed and slowly said, "Fine. You don't need to learn anything or get yourself involved with the business."

"Really?" Diana paused and asked suspiciously.

"Yes. If you don't want to learn or handle then you can get married. I'll teach your husband how to handle the work, and he'll handle it for you."

He is just thinking about his daughter's life for the long run. Life is unpredictable, and If anything one day, something happens to him or his wife, what will Diana do without anyone backing her? He needs to find a suitable husband for her so he can rest assured regarding her.

"Marriage? Heh!" Diana suddenly scoffed coldly before saying, "Did Ethan turn to you for this marriage shit when he could not pursue me? I am telling you there is no way I am getting married to that man. I already have someone I love, and I will get married to him only."

"Ethan asked you to get married?" Father Frank was stunned.

"Dad I am telling you one thing today. You don't have to look for a son-in-law for yourself who can handle the company work. I have a man whom I love and who loves me too. He is great and is starting his business. You can help him in his business and later let him run the company for us. He is way better than that Ethan who only knows how to put on a cold face all the time and act high and mighty"

Her tone was full of disdain and resentment for Ethan. When he helped her for the first time, she was greatly impressed by the strong talk and handsome man before her. Later, he continued to appear before her, helped her with her troubles and even let her use his card. She was not sort anything while being with him, and she also enjoyed the richness and indulgence, but when she tried to take another step by wearing sexy lingerie for him, he coldly turned her down, saying that she should respect herself. His tone was cold, and his gaze was dark, with a hint of disgust in them, which she could never forget.

Since that day, she got involved with several men before his eyes. She got into many relationships and later got settled with David. He is the longest she has dated.

She did not like the cold, reserved temperament of Ethan, but she also never denied any benefits he gave her.

She has been enjoying his money and power meanwhile having fun with her boyfriend with the money she got from Ethan.

"Diana, listen to Dad; Ethan is not a bad man. He treats you so well and has never complained about your flamboyant ways of living. When choosing a husband, you should listen to your dad."

Diana scoffed and hung up without saying anything. This is my life why should I listen to you?

Ethan clicked a few pictures of the homemade dishes on the table and posted them on moments with a simple caption beneath it.

Genesis put down the last dish on the table and sat across from him, she happened to see a small smile hanging at the corner of his lips as she looked at his phone.

"What's so good?" She asked, her voice still soft and gentle.

Ethan showed her his phone screen; she took a look, seeing the comments under the picture.

Genesis couldn't help but chuckle seeing the childish argument in the comment section.

"Huh? Who comes at this hour?" Genesis turned to look but Ethan stood up to answer the door.

"Mom, Dad...ouch, Mom" Ethan was stunned by his parents at the door, but he suddenly got grabbed by his ear by his mom and let out a painful groan.

His father also did not stop his wife; instead, he gave her the durian and keyboard, swiftly kicking his son on his knee and helping his wife to make their son kneel on anyone she wanted.

Genesis came out hearing the noise and was stunned to see such a scene.

Ethan's eat was pulled by his mom, and his one knee was on the keyboard, and his second was on the durian, yet he could not do anything but softly say sorry readily.

"Eh....who are you, girl?" Ethan's father, Waylon, looked up and found Genesis standing there in bewilderment and asked.

Ethan's mom immediately stopped and turned to look, ready to lunge at the stupid vixen woman, but instantly stopped seeing Genesis.

"Gene? What are you doing here?"
