"Moira, why did the war against the lycans start? Who started it? So much time has passed that I feel like I've forgotten." Victoria asks, while Moira combs her hair.
"I don't even know myself, Your Highness, but if I'm honest, humans are more ambitious than the supernatural ones." the woman replies calmly.
"You're human, but one of the few who are truly good... what do you know about Lethia? Her failure is still a recent topic." she smiles slyly.
"She's secluded in her palace. You knew she would fail, that's why you let her go, right?" she asks curiously.
"You're very observant..."
Moira said nothing more and finished combing her hair, then handed the young woman a dress. Today her father has asked her to meet with him. Victoria has an idea why: the emperor is about to introduce her to Duke Lazaro Dagger and his son Axel, the man who vilely deceived the real Victoria. After getting dressed, she goes down, entering the room after being announced. She was wearing dark but elegant tones, which perfectly highlighted her crimson eyes.
"Come in, my daughter. Duke Lazaro Dagger and his son, the young Duke Axel, will be joining us this afternoon." the emperor mentions.
Duke Dagger is the first to stand up, greeting with a bow, followed by Axel, a good-looking young man with brown hair and eyes of the same color.
"A pleasure to meet you. Victoria Blackwood, second princess, it's a pleasure to meet you." she makes a perfect bow.
Axel fixes his gaze on the young woman and smiles slyly. Of course, Victoria returns the smile shyly. This does not go unnoticed by the king and the duke, who look at each other with a certain complicity. Tea time passed without problems, the emperor and the duke talked about a bit of politics and the duke gave Victoria a few compliments due to her performance in the war. At the end of the meal, the emperor smiles at Victoria.
"Ahem! While the Duke and I talk, I think it would be good for you to take the young Duke for a walk around the palace." the emperor suggests.
"I would love that, the princess's company will be an honor for me." Axel replies.
"I appreciate it, but I'm afraid I'm busy. But if you want to see the palace, I can call my sister Lethia, she is more suitable for that walk." she replies forcing a smile.
The duke and his son make a slight gesture of annoyance, while the emperor puts on a stern look at Victoria.
"Your duties will wait, go and accompany the young duke." he orders firmly.
Victoria only bows asking Axel to accompany her, she walks ahead, with long strides while Axel tries to reach her.
"I'm sorry if my company bothers you, I think our parents are planning something and the truth is, I would like to meet you." Axel tries to show a friendly smile.
"Don't take it the wrong way, young duke, but, if it's what I think, don't get your hopes up, right now my mind and my time are focused on liberating this empire from the lycans." Victoria's gaze was stern.
Axel clenched his hands upon hearing her words, but maintained a kind expression.
"I understand that, Your Highness, but if it is the decision of our families we must accept them and I think we could start getting to know each other." he replies.
"That will depend on the time I have available." she signals two guards. "Young Duke, they will accompany you back."
And without giving him time to protest, Victoria walks away quickly, as she has no interest in getting along with that man. Axel returned to the room, which surprises the emperor, who immediately asks about Victoria and Axel only replies that Victoria left him halfway because she had an urgent matter, so the emperor apologizes.
"Don't worry, Your Majesty, the princess is only fulfilling her duty, that is admirable in her." Axel replies.
"Victoria has always been like that, but tell me, young duke, what do you think of her? Her father and I have talked about a possible engagement." the emperor is curious about the boy's response.
"It would be an honor for me to get engaged to the second princess, she is a brave woman." Axel replies.
"Perfect, we'll talk about that later. Duke Dagger, I hope you consider it, our alliance would be a benefit to our empire." he asks the Duke.
"It will be so, Your Majesty. For now I retire, I appreciate your time." the duke replies.
Axel and his father leave the room. Although the duke acts little interested in engaging his son with the younger princess, the truth is that he is very interested, because he knows that Victoria is the strongest candidate for the throne.

On the other hand, in lycan territory, the generals inform Wolfram that one of the princes of Umbra has established his camp in the southern area, so they have sent troops to that place to secure that part of the border.
"This time your friend the princess didn't send you information?" Sira mocks.
"Maybe she regretted it, or she was caught. It's a shame, she could have been useful." he shrugs.
"You can't trust her, she's human and the daughter of our main enemy." Sira reminds him.
"No Sira, she's a vampire, doesn't that seem strange to you? As far as I know, the emperors and their children are human, but she's not..." he looks thoughtful.
"She is adopted, it is the most logical explanation, or, the emperors stole her from the arms of her real family in order to raise an immortal warrior." she shrugs. "She has been our main obstacle, think about it."
"Your theory is not as absurd as it sounds. That could be the reason why she is betraying them, but I can't just trust her."
"It could be just a trap. Be careful, we can't lose our home in the hands of those humans." Sira asks.
"I know that, Sira, but whether it is a trap or not, maybe I can take advantage to find an advantage that assures us victory." he smiles slyly.
"Will she accept your alliance? I think it's dangerous, vampires are more treacherous than humans." Sira replies.
"Don't worry Sira, I'll be alert and I'll test her." he assures.

Victoria was preparing to leave for the main border camp, her troops were ready, the carriages had been loaded with food, water, weapons and everything necessary for camping. Of course, Victoria had her own carriage with her things, where Moira has uploaded a trunk where Victoria carries the blood she needs to consume. Of course, Moira will also go with her as part of the medical team.
Lethia, who watches from afar, was upset, she wanted to go, she needed another chance to demonstrate what she is capable of, but the emperor did not allow it.
"Too bad for you, little sister, now you will stay in the palace and you will only be recognized for your failure." Abel mocks.
"Shut your mouth, and what have you done? You are a coward, at least I had the courage to go to battle." Lethia replies.
"The battle is not only won with strength, dear little sister, think just a little, there are other ways to take the glory from that bastard." Abel shows a slight smile. "By the way, did you know that father wants to marry the bastard with the young Duke Dagger?"
With that said, Abel withdrew from that balcony, while Lethia clenched her hands in her dress and frowned. Now not only does Victoria have control of the main troops, she also wants to marry the man she loves, no! She doesn't plan to allow that, she has loved Axel Dagger since they were teenagers and Axel has also been courting her for a long time, he can't just marry Victoria, she won't take him away from her.
