Living Historia
Rein woke up in a forest, his whole body aching. The last thing he remembered was an explosion after he defeated Azathoth, the demon king.
"Where am I?", he muttered to himself.
He looked around to see that the demon King's palace was already in ruins. He was a little confused, " Didn't I just defeat that thing? Why is his palace already in ruins?"
He thought that Azathoth's miasma was the thing that held the palace together, and now that he's dead and the miasma is gone, the palace collapsed. Rein tried to go back home but he ended up getting lost. The forest was different from what he remembered. He took weeks to get out of the seemingly endless forest. Once Rein exited the forest, he couldn't believe what he saw.
The Capital city of the Evnorii empire, the empire he once served, was more advanced than before. It had taller buildings, more advanced vehicles, and more. He entered the city, covering his face with a cloak, trying to avoid attention. He found a map posted on the board in the park of the city.
"Why is the Archives a landmark? Isn't it supposed to be hidden? " Rein said to himself. "Well, whatever. Now I can finally go home."
As he walked home, he saw a lot of unfamiliar faces, food, and products, which only made him worried if this place is actually Evnorii. When Rein reached the gates of a mansion where the Archives was supposed to be standing, he saw a group of men pointing a knife towards the throats of some women.
"Tell that damn elf that we'll kill these guys if she doesn't give us 50 million platinum coins!" one of the men yelled. "We expect to receive it by sunset".
"B-but sir" one of the women said, clearly terrified, "Lady Sylphie won't be home until tomorrow."
"Did I stutter?" the man yelled.
Rein watched from the side until one of them noticed him.
"Hey! You there! Show yourself!" One of them yelled.
Rein walked up to them, his face calm. He was irritated by these men. He wanted them to shut up, but he couldn't do anything without causing a scene.
“Oh? Hey boss! look at this guy! We could sell him for a high price” The men laughed, “The ladies will definitely pay a large sum of money for a pretty faced brat like him”. They tried to grab Rein's arm but their hands were immediately chopped off. Rein's face was expressionless, while the women watched in horror.
"Leave” Rein said. The other men drew their weapons and tried to kill Rein. Rein was calm, dodging their strikes. The men gave up and went home. Then she arrived.
An elf with long white hair and emerald eyes arrived. “Lady Sylphie!” The maids screamed. Rein's ears twitched, “Sylphie?” Rein muttered to himself as he turned around to see her. Sylphie’s eyes widened as she couldn't believe what she saw. Rein, whom she thought was dead, was standing there staring back at her. “You're Rein, right?” Sylphie called out to him, tears filled her eyes.
Rein simply smiled before collapsing to the ground, unconscious. Sylphie ran out to him and caught him in her arms before holding him in a tight embrace. Tears streamed down her face as she said
“I thought you were dead! I thought that you would never come back! I thought I'd never see you again!” The maids watched from a distance, surprised. They've only known Sylphie as a quiet, serious, and stoic master who pushed all her suitors away.
“Lady Sylphie, is everything alright?” Mathilde, her head maid asked. Sylphie wiped her tears, still holding Rein. With a soft smile, she said
“Prepare dinner and a room for our guest.” The maids went back inside the mansion and prepared a lavish meal and a room.
“Who is that guy?” The maids whispered among themselves as they prepared dinner. “Lady Sylphie wouldn't do this to anyone before.” Just then, Mathilde entered the kitchen and scolds the others. “I'm sure lady Sylphie has her reasons to let that man inside.” She said with a soft smile. “Now do your job properly!” she scolded.
“Yes ma'am!” the others replied.
Rein woke up, Sylphie by his side. “Sylphie” Rein muttered.
“Where have you been?” Sylphie said, worry etched on her face as she leaned in. “You've been gone for five centuries, I thought you were dead.”
Rein's eyes widened with shock “Five centuries?” Rein quickly straightened up.
“What do you mean ‘five centuries’?” Rein asked. “Exactly what I mean, you've disappeared five hundred years ago in that mission” Sylphie replied, her face serious. This was no joke, Rein was transported into the future.
