unexpected massage from?!

---

November 11, 2022

It was the morning of November 11, 2022. I was getting ready for school. Sometimes, I get ready early and reach school 15–20 minutes ahead of time. It only takes me about 5–6 minutes to get there, so I usually have extra time. Around 8:10 AM, after taking a shower, I was using my phone and replying to my friends’ messages.

Suddenly, I received a message from an unknown number. It was a girl. After chatting for a bit, I remembered that I had a brief conversation with her when we visited the boat area. She was sweet and cute, wearing a white T-shirt with black jeans. She was a 9th-grade student from another school.

As we continued talking, she told me that she was the younger sister of the boy I had a crush on—Vishal. I couldn’t help but smile. Then, she told me something unexpected: her brother’s friend, Mr. Alien (his real name is Aditya, but I gave him that nickname for a reason I’ll explain later), liked me. I was confused because I hadn’t really noticed him before. I had only ever noticed Vishal (funny³⁰⁰⁰).

She sent me a picture of Aditya, and I finally realized who he was. But at first, I misunderstood and thought that Vishal liked me instead! She then offered to give me Aditya’s number, but I asked for both his and her brother’s numbers.

Priya, the girl messaging me, sent me their contacts. Let me clarify:

The boy I had a crush on at the tuition picnic: Vishal

The boy who liked me: Aditya

The girl who messaged me about Aditya’s feelings: Priya (Vishal’s little sister)

As soon as I got their numbers, I went straight to Vishal’s contact and sent him a message:

"Hi."

I then introduced myself with all the details so he wouldn’t get confused. After all, I liked him, not Aditya. And I was crazy about him, which is why I asked for his number in the first place.

Shortly after, Aditya messaged me too. Since Priya had already told me about him, I knew what he was going to say. His message read:

"As Priya told you about me and why I’m messaging you, let me introduce myself. I’m an Automobile Engineering student… and I like you."

I was shocked. Everything was happening so suddenly, and my heart skipped a beat. I wasn’t looking to get into a relationship because I found it hard to manage two difficult things at once—school and emotions. So, I replied:

"Nice to meet you. Priya already told me about you, and I think we should get to know each other first."

Honestly, I didn’t know what else to say at that moment.

A 14-year-old girl, just getting ready for school, suddenly receives a proposal from her crush’s friend—a complete weirdo. What a way to start my day! I couldn’t help but laugh at my situation. It was like, "What I expected vs. what I got!"

Fast forward two years, and here I am at 17, struggling to decide whether I should study for my upcoming exams or just watch my favorite drama for “just 15 minutes.” I can totally relate to my past self—struggling to choose between a stranger and my crush, just like now, choosing between studying and procrastinating.

Anyway, after that, Aditya agreed with my decision, and I said goodbye before heading to school.

At School

I told my friend Jasmine the whole story, but she didn’t have much of a reaction. Then, during the break, two girls from the 9th grade approached me and told me the same thing that Priya and Aditya had already told me. I told them I already knew.

The two girls were on the same tuition trip as us. Actually, the full story is this:

After the tuition trip, Aditya and Vishal searched for me on all social media platforms. But since I had deleted my accounts, they couldn’t find me. So, they asked Priya, Vishal’s sister, to get my number.

Priya was also from the same tuition center where I used to study. She asked my tuition friends for my number, but they mistakenly gave her my best friend’s number instead. Later, Priya asked her tuition classmates—who also studied at my school—and eventually, my tuition friends ended up giving her my real number.

When I found out that my tuition friends had given my number, I was shocked. I had met so many people in my life, but no one had ever tried to stay in touch with me after we parted ways. I felt happy that someone actually put in the effort to reach out to me. Most people never step out of their comfort zone to confess their feelings or even have a simple conversation.

The Next Day

The next day, I told my best friend everything, and we discussed it with our tuition friends. They told us that Vishal and Aditya had been searching for me on social media ever since the trip.

After class, I went home and immediately messaged Aditya. Then, I got ready for school and left.

Growing Comfortable

Slowly, I became comfortable talking to him. I started prioritizing our conversations over my studies (oops!). I loved talking to him. I shared so many random things, and he listened to all my nonsense without hesitation. It felt like he didn’t judge me or try to stop me from rambling.

I told him something I had never even shared with my closest friends—that I loved the night sky full of stars. I also told him about my childhood dream of becoming an astronaut. As a teenager, I now felt like it was the hardest dream ever, and I had no idea where that dream had disappeared to. But he was the first person (after my parents) to know about it.

I also told him that I was part of a football club in 8th grade and that I loved playing football.

We talked every day. I always sent him a “Good morning” message first since he usually woke up around the time I had to leave for school. Then, after school, when he came back from college around 4–5 PM, he’d message me, and we’d start talking again.

Anime & Late-Night Conversations

One day, I finished watching an anime called A Silent Voice. It became my favorite, so I put three anime dolls (a cat, a rabbit, and a dog) from the anime as my WhatsApp DP. These were the same dolls that Shouko Nishimiya gave to Shouya Ishida in the movie.

Aditya asked me about them, so I asked him if he had seen the anime. He said, "No," but right after I mentioned it, he searched for it and watched it. Of course, he loved it—he was an anime lover. But I wasn’t into anime that much and only watched it occasionally.

One night, out of nowhere, he asked me, "Do you believe in ghosts?"

I replied, "Yes, I do!"

He then asked, "Do you want to see a haunted place?"

I immediately said, "No! If I watch something scary, I won’t be able to sleep tonight."

But he still sent me a video of his hostel area at night. He told me that when he entered a newly built room, he got negative vibes. He then explained that he lived in a different hostel, one that was better than the new one and also better than the older ones.

I finished watching the video, took out my earbuds, put my phone aside, and slowly drifted off to sleep, saying, "Gudu gudu night."
