A New Journey Begins: Baby Krishna’s Adventures in Mathura

Oh, leaving Gokul wasn’t easy, let me tell you! Imagine this—you’re just a simple butter-loving boy, minding his own business, enjoying pranks with friends, and the next thing you know, you’re off on a “big important mission” with everyone calling you “the chosen one!” Well, my little heart was heavy, but with my big brother, Balarama, by my side, I felt ready for anything. Balarama’s strong and serious, always trying to keep me out of trouble (even if that’s impossible). Together, we left Gokul, waving goodbye to my friends, cows, and of course, my dear mother Yashoda. I could see her dabbing her eyes as she watched me go—no more butter-thieving Krishna for her!

The road to Mathura was long, filled with big forests, fields, and villages where the people were eagerly waiting for us. As soon as they saw us, they’d come rushing over, offering fruits and sweets, saying, “Please save us from Kansa!” I’d munch on the treats, and in between bites, I’d say, “Don’t worry! I’ll take care of him!” But inside, I was already planning my own little ‘surprises’ for Kansa. Oh, he had no idea what was coming!

When we finally arrived at Mathura, I looked around in amazement. Mathura was so grand and bustling—nothing like little Gokul. Big towers and walls, so many people in fancy clothes, and everyone seemed… worried. I could feel it in the air, this tense silence, like they’d been living in fear for too long. They whispered as we passed by, “Look, it’s Krishna and Balarama! Are they really going to take on Kansa?”

And then came the fun part—the big arena. Kansa had set up this huge festival to show off his power, but little did he know, his time was up! The arena was packed with people; you could feel their excitement, but also their fear. I turned to Balarama with a grin and whispered, “Ready to give them a show, big brother?” He just shook his head at me, trying not to laugh, but I knew he was excited too!

Kansa’s guards brought out these fierce-looking wrestlers, thinking they’d scare us. But come on, I’m Krishna! So I gave the crowd a wink, took a playful stance, and, with Balarama by my side, we took on those big, scary wrestlers one by one. Each time one fell, the crowd’s cheers grew louder. I even did a little victory dance after each match, just to keep things fun. Balarama couldn’t help but roll his eyes, but hey, what’s a fight without a little fun?

Finally, it was Kansa’s turn. He stepped into the arena with a scowl, glaring at me like he’d just found out who’d emptied his butter stash! But this was no time for games—I looked at him, calm and serious, ready to set things right. Kansa was furious, throwing everything he had at me, but with each move, I dodged, spun, and danced around him like it was just another game. And then, with one swift blow, Kansa fell to the ground, defeated.

For a moment, there was silence. And then, the crowd erupted! People cheered, hugged each other, and even started dancing right there in the arena. I looked around at the joy in their faces, their eyes no longer fearful but full of hope and freedom. My heart felt so full, like I’d just had a whole pot of the sweetest butter!

But I have to admit, as happy as I was, I missed Gokul. I missed my friends, my mother, and the quiet fields where I could just be a mischievous little boy. This new journey was important, I knew that, but a part of me longed for the laughter, the pranks, and the love that had filled my days in Gokul.

Still, I carried that love with me, and I knew it would always guide me. After all, no matter where I went, I was still Krishna, the butter thief, the prankster, and the little boy who loved his family more than anything. And that love—well, it was my real strength.
