She hugged him sobbing. "Reina you're scaring me, what happened?", he asked.
“Mhm, Nothing. I just got accepted as an intern for the Andersen Group. Aren't I amazing?”. She said smiling as she wiped her tears.
“Really?, he said frowning. “Yes, I just had to do some paperwork. So, I'm just a little tired”, she said stretching her arms and got in the car. “Come on, Let's go. Mom must be waiting and I'm hungry”, she said.
Jacob did not like the fact that she would work for the Andersen, even it was for a short period of time. He had always considered Eugene as his rival, ever since they were little.
When they reached home, Reina strode towards her room before her mom could see her face and guess something was wrong. She had a quick bath and came down wearing a t-shirt dress.
Her parents were now aware that she was going to take an internship. Her mother didn't mind that and wished her luck. Her father however had a sullen face. He asked Reina to go with him to the study.
Angela knew what that was all about, before she could say something, Jacob stopped her. “Leave it to father!”, he assured her.
In the study,
“What were you thinking?”, Ivan asked as he sat on the chair with his legs crossed and his hands on his brows.
“What do you mean what I was thinking? Shouldn't you be happy that I'm trying to work and learn from the experience, Instead you are-”, she bragged when she heard the table slammed. “Enough!”, he said. Reina was taken aback from his voice.
“It's not about where you work, but who you're working for!”, he continued. “That man, Reina...”, he said as he came towards her and held her shoulders. “Tsk!”, he said as he bit back a sigh. It was as if he remembered something that made him mad.
Reina sensed the inconvenience in her dad's eyes. She had never seen such discomfort in his eyes.
She knew there was more to it than it looks.
She gritted her teeth and said, “If you don't want me to work there, then I won't. But can you please give me a valid reason for it. Don't you think I have the right to know about it. Even when things were about the Andersen Group or its CEO before, you completely ignored it, never letting anyone talk about it. Why, dad?”, she argued.
Just when Ivan was about to continue, there was a knock on the door.
Jacob came in holding a file, he excused himself and came towards Ivan and spoke in his ear. Ivan frowned a little. Heaving a big sigh, “Reina, I have an important work to do, I have to go. We will talk another time”, he said and left the house. “Rei, rest a little okay?”, said Jacob as he followed behind Ivan.
Reina knew she couldn't stop them and went back to her room.
She threw herself on the bed as the recent events kept playing in her mind. “What the ****!”, she shouted when suddenly her mom came in. “Language, Reina!”, she said.
“Mom!”, she called out as she sat on her bed like a spoiled child. “What's with the old man?”, she grumbled.
“Reina, remember when you had a little accident when you were six years old?, she asked.
Reina took some time to think about it. After a few seconds she opened her mouth to say “Ah, I remember I was abducted by some bad guys and.. I think there was a boy with me who was around Jacob's age back then”, she paused to think. “Yep, that's all I can remember”, she said.
“But, what about it mom?”, she asked. Angela sighed as she didn't wanted things from the past to affect her daughter. She sighed and said, “Your father just worries a lot about you after that incident. He.. is just being too careful”, she said as she a gave a cheerful smile.
“I..I understand, Mom!”, she said.
Her mom had left the room. But Reina was still lost in her thoughts.
She tried to remember the incident back then as to what had happened after she was kidnapped, but to no avail. And then she drifted off to sleep.
Meanwhile, at the Andersen's mansion, Eugene sat on his rocking chair holding a cigarette, all he could think about was the girl who had messed with his heart and mind. He was so deep in thoughts that he didn't even realize only the cigarette butt had remained.
He came out of the thoughts when he was distracted by a call, it was from his grandfather. “Tsk!, he groaned as he received the call.
“Brat, where the hell are you? Do you even remember there is an old man in the family? I think you just want to anger me to death. Hmph, I feel like this old man won't even live until he sees his great grandkids”, came the voice from the other end. He sighed pretending to be pitiful.
Eugene's parents had died in a car accident when he was an infant. Only Eugene had survived the accident. He was then raised by his grandparents.
“Are you done?”, he asked coldly.
“Hmph, you're arrogant and cold demeanor won't work for me. Get your *** back here. Your grandma and I have selected some fine girls for you to choose”, he said giggling.
"I don't need them", he rejected sternly.
"Why? Is it because of that seductress model? Then let me make this clear, I don't allow her to be my granddaughter-in-law" he firmly said. "You can forget about your grandparents, if you marry that scheming woman!", he continued.
"Tsk!, I don't need you to remind me", he said as he hung upon him.
"If it wasn't for the fact that I'm indebted to her...", he thought as he sighed.
Reina opened her eyes to find herself tied up in an unfamiliar place. The place seemed like a deserted factory. It was dark. She struggled to break free but she couldn't. She flinched when her hand touched something soft and warm behind her.
