Episode 2: Shattered Minds, Phase 1

The sound of a shrill alarm pierced the silence, snapping the team back into action. The neural connection had been severed, but not without leaving its mark. Sweat beaded on Kai’s forehead as his body jerked upright in the chair, the vivid image of Dr. Harper’s final words still echoing in his mind. “They’re already coming for you.”

Lena rushed to his side, her face tight with concern. “Kai, talk to me. What happened in there?”

He blinked a few times, his hand gripping the edge of his chair. “Harper… she wasn’t just hiding something. She’s being manipulated, and there’s someone—or something—coming for us. I don’t know who, but I know it’s bad.”

Riley stood by the monitors, flipping through a series of data streams, his grin now absent. “Well, that's one way to start a mission. I guess we’ve got ourselves a bigger mess than we bargained for.”

Kai’s thoughts raced, but his voice remained steady. “That wasn’t a warning; it was a threat. Someone’s trying to cover something up, and now they know we’re onto them.”

Finn, who had been at his console, typing away with lightning speed, paused and looked up. “I’m pulling up every record connected to Dr. Harper, but something’s off. It’s like half of her data is corrupted. Whoever’s behind this has done a damn good job of erasing their tracks.”

Lena’s eyes narrowed. “I don’t like this. The deeper we go, the more it feels like we’re being led into a trap. We can’t afford to act recklessly.”

Kai stood up, shaking off the lingering disorientation. His mind was still swirling with the disjointed images of Harper’s lab and that final warning. There was more to this than they realized. “We need to move fast. If we wait too long, whoever’s behind this will wipe her out—along with any leads. If we’re going to find answers, we need to dig deeper.”

Lena looked like she was about to say something, but then her eyes flicked to the main screen. A new file had appeared, flagged with a red alert. It was a communication from an unknown source. The message was brief but chilling:

“We know what you’re doing. You’re too late. Dr. Harper is not your only problem.”

Finn’s fingers flew across the keyboard, trying to trace the signal, but the connection was already gone. The message had been a ghost, sent with the precision of someone who knew exactly what they were doing.

Riley exhaled sharply. “Great. A ghost hacker now. This day keeps getting better.”

Kai clenched his fists, his mind working furiously. The pieces were starting to come together, but not in any way he’d hoped. “We need to find Dr. Harper, now. Whatever’s coming for us, it’s not just her they’re after. It’s us.”

As the team moved into action, Lena gave a nod. “Alright, let’s gear up. This isn’t over.”

Episode 2: Shattered Minds, Phase 2

The atmosphere in the Psy-Division HQ had shifted, now heavier with the realization that their mission had just taken a dangerous turn. Kai’s mind was still buzzing with the chilling message from the unknown source. “You’re too late. Dr. Harper is not your only problem.”

Lena turned to Finn, who had already pulled up an encrypted file. “What did you find?”

Finn’s face was grim. “Whoever sent that message wiped their tracks too cleanly. There’s nothing on this end that connects them to any known factions. But I can tell you one thing—whoever they are, they knew exactly when to send that message. They’re tracking us.”

Kai’s jaw tightened. They had barely scratched the surface, and now they were dealing with an enemy who knew their every move. “This is getting worse by the second.”

The team was preparing for their next dive, but this time, things felt different. They couldn’t trust the situation, or the people involved. As the team gathered around the relay system, the atmosphere was thick with suspicion.

Riley, who had remained unusually quiet, finally spoke. “You think we’re the ones they were warning about? Or is Dr. Harper the real target?”

“Both,” Kai said, voice low but determined. “Whoever’s behind this is using Harper, but we’re in their sights now too. We have to find her first. If we lose her, we lose everything.”

“Not a lot of room to breathe,” Lena said, her voice tinged with rare frustration. She turned to the rest of the team. “We don’t know who’s watching us. We don’t know who to trust. But we’re going in, and we’re going in fast. No one gets left behind.”

Finn nodded, his fingers tapping rapidly over the keyboard. “Alright, I’ve cracked the security on Dr. Harper’s last known location. It’s not far from here—if we hurry, we can still get there before whoever’s hunting us catches up.”

Kai’s heart raced as the team gathered their gear, heading toward the exit. This was more than just a mission now. It was a race against time, a battle against forces they barely understood. But there was one thing they did understand: if they didn’t find Dr. Harper soon, the consequences would be catastrophic.

As they filed out of the room, Kai couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching them. Someone who knew exactly what they were capable of—and exactly how to stop them.
