Chapter 11

Just like that, the school day came to an end. The final bell of the school day rang, and everyone was getting ready to leave.

"Okay, everyone, have a nice day, I will see you all tomorrow!" Eric said as he waved his hand. He was also packing his stuff to leave.

Hope and Lucas got out of the classroom and headed downstairs. It was packed with students, so they bumbed into a few people on the way out.

"Well, i guess i will see you tomorrow." Hope said as she was walking towards the main gate.

"W-wait for me, why are you rushing, you didnt even wait for me to say bye. *Sniff, *you meanie."

She started laughing, seeing him acting like that. She went near him and started walking with his pace. They went to the school bus, and then they both said goodbye.

"Okay, now, I will see you tomorrow." Hope said as she was waiting at the stop.

"Pfft, okay, okay, sure. Have a good day." He started leaving and then turned around and waved his hand. She also waved at him, she didnt want to look ignorant towards him.

After some time, the bus arrived, and she got in. She took a step and then accidentally bumbed into something-well more like someone.

"O-oh I... I'm sorry. "

She looked up and saw that it was a person. His voice was kinda rough, almost familiar. He wasn't even at fault, but he still apologized.

"oh its okay, dont worry." She replied and then went to take a seat since the bus was about to start.

He looked at her and then moved at the back.

It was rush hour so the bus took a while to reach her home. After the delay, she was at her house. The windows seemed close-kinda weird since the weather was nice.

She walked towards the door and took out her keys. She opened it, and inside, everything was pitch black, not a sign of light, and that silence was killing her.

Hope got inside and closed the door behind her. She slowly started moving towards the stairs so she would go in her room.

She passed the kitchen, but she was stopped shortly after.

"H-HOPE, why did you take so long!"

He bumped into the chair and ran to her. He grabbed her and looked at her in the eyes. His face filled with an unknown feeling to him. He was anxious, maybe scared too, that Hope would also leave him just like his wife.

Hope felt shivers down her spine, she didnt want to feel scared of him, but at the same time, she hated herself for admiting that it was the second time she felt afraid.

Her hands were trembling, but she tried to hug him. He was surprised and he realised that he had made the same mistake again.

He held her tight in his hug, but her knees gave out.

"Hope, what happened?! I'm so sorry I did it again. I dont know what is happening to me."

She just looked at him. She knew that he wasn't okay, but Ashley didn't just walk out of her dad's life. She also lost her mother - even if she wasn't acting like one.

"Calm down, dad, it's okay. But please don't forget that you promised me something."

She got up, hugged him one more time, and went up to her room. She locked the door and crouched down. She hugged her knees and took deep breaths.

She didn't want to cry. The day was nice, so she wanted to continue to feel that happiness, at least for that day. She eventually stood up, and her eyes fell on her desk. There was a pair of scissors, she took them and sat on her bed.

She closed her eyes  for a minute, and she just put them again on the desk. She laid on her bed and curled up to sleep.
