Chapter 6

They ceremony ended with the principal again welcoming the students.

Everyone started leaving including Hope. She looked ahead and saw Lucas with his friends laughing. She was a bit distracted and bumped on someone.

He was a tall kid and Hope had to lift her head to look at him.

"Careful there, you ok?"

He said and his voice was a little rough.

"Yeah im sorry, have a good school year."

She said and started walking away. He just looked at her and left too. She got on the bus, put her earphones on and waited to reach home.

When she finally came to her house she felt a little hesitant to go inside.

She slowly open the door and no one was there, she turned around and closed it.

She didn't even managed to take a step and a crash sound was heard. Her dad threw at her a glass with water.

The glass landed on her shoulder and her shirt was shoacked with blood and water.

"H-Hope, WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME, you can't- no."

He shouted at her, and then he fell on his knees.

He covered his face with his hands and started talking to himself. Hope was left speechless, it was the first time her father showed any sign of aggression towards her.

It hurt more than the physical pain. She gathered her couraged and kneeled before him. She hugged him and tried to comfort him.

"Dad today middle school started, i had to leave. Its a great school, i also found a way to get there. So you can just sleep in on the mornings."

She patted his back and he seemed to calm down.

"Im sorry for yelling at you. There is so much blood too, i-im so sorry Hope, please forgive me."

They both got up, Hope didn't say anything until they reached his room. She helped him sit on his bed. While he tried to sit he clinged on her shoulder and his hand was covered in blood.

"Oh sorry for that."

She said and went to the bathroom to bring a wet towel to clean his hand. He had teary eyes, he clearly knew it wasn't her fault but he didnt dare to say anything to her. She wiped his hand and then stared at him.

"Promise me you will never do that, and i will forgive you."

She decided to give one more chance.

His face lighted up with happiness. He thought that she wouldn't forgive him.

"I promise- no I swear I will never do that again. You are my only precious thing how could I even hurt you. I'm so sorry Hope!"

She nodded her head and then left the room.

People always make promises, but they don't always keep them. The time would come when a promise would break but no one knows when.

Hope then slowly walked to the bathroom, the pain was starting to take over. A few shards were pushed inside- not too deep- when Carl clinged to her shoulder.

She reached the door, opened it and walked inside. She took her shirt off and tried to remove the glass pieces. More blood came out, but at least she took out the shards.

She treated her would and went to her room, locking the door.
