Altan POV,
As the girl looked even more confused, she closed her eyes tightly and then opened them, asking me to repeat what I had said earlier. The inspector repeated his question, asking which country she was from. The girl persisted, asking what the inspector had said before. Confusion clouded the inspector's expression as he repeated his words about her being in Inkonia state, part of Novia Country.
The girl burst into laughter, causing shock to ripple through me. I muttered to myself, convinced that she was displaying signs of mania—laughing one moment, weeping the next, and now this sense of panic. She laughed even louder this time, leaving the inspector bewildered. He asked her why she was laughing, unable to comprehend the situation.
Through her laughter, the girl exclaimed, "Wow, that's a good joke!" The inspector, perplexed, expressed his confusion, unable to understand what she found amusing. The girl composed herself and questioned which city he was from. I observed her, tilting my head in confusion, thinking to myself that she must have hit her head hard, resulting in her erratic behavior.
She continued, mentioning that the inspector was from Novia Country. The inspector nodded, but the girl insisted that she had never heard of this country before. She turned her gaze towards me and remarked that she didn't believe this country even existed in the world.
The inspector, growing more concerned, suggested that she needed rest. He expressed his doubt regarding the existence of the country she claimed to be from. Their back-and-forth intensified, leaving me feeling caught in the crossfire of their questions and uncertainty.
After a brief pause, the inspector received a call. He spoke for a few minutes before ending the call and directing his attention to the girl. He informed her that he didn't know why she was lying but requested her cooperation. Confusion washed over her face as she questioned what he meant by lying. The inspector explained that the country she mentioned didn't exist, and he had verified it.
Her confusion deepened as she insisted that she had no reason to lie. She maintained that she had known all along that the country didn't exist and had even checked the city name. The inspector, puzzled, acknowledged that he couldn't find any information either. He suggested she needed rest and mentioned he would return later.
As the inspector walked away, the girl turned to me and asked what the inspector had called me. I replied, "Altan Walmart." Suddenly, she stood up from the bed and came close to me, cupping my cheeks with her cold, smooth hands—a strange and unexpected gesture. She expressed disbelief at something she still didn't understand.
Perplexed, I asked her to clarify. With an exclamation, she released her hold on my cheeks and turned away. Before I could comprehend what was happening, she fainted right in front of my eyes. I hastily picked her up in my arms and gently laid her back on the bed. Panicked, I rushed to find a doctor.
After a few moments, I returned with a doctor who examined her. The doctor reassured me that she was physically fine, attributing her condition to shock. The doctor inquired about the events that had unfolded, and I recounted the conversations with the police and the girl.
The doctor found the situation perplexing and suggested that the girl needed rest. With a nod, I acknowledged the doctor's advice. My mind was swirling with a thousand questions—why did she ask me to repeat my name? Did she know something about me? These questions surged through my mind like relentless waves.
