As time passed, Lily found herself frequently stealing glances at Dev during art class. Occasionally, their eyes would meet, but Dev usually looked away. There was an art competition coming up, and Dev, along with other seniors, cheered for the participants. Whenever Dev said, “You can do this,” Lily felt like he was speaking directly to her. She often imagined being with him, daydreaming about his presence.A few days later, some senior girls started attending the art class, but Lily didn’t pay much attention, lost in her thoughts about Dev. One of the senior girls seemed close to Dev, which made Lily uncomfortable. Dolly reassured her that the girl was just a friend, but Lily found it hard to believe.

One day, before class began, Dev gifted the senior girl a large art box. The size of the gift didn’t matter as much as the gesture—boys in the art class rarely gave gifts to girls. Lily couldn’t shake the thought that this girl might be Dev’s girlfriend. When Lily got home, she locked herself in her room and cried. She even ripped up the painting she had made of Dev. No matter how much Dolly and Sofie tried to convince her otherwise, Lily couldn’t shake the feeling of jealousy and sadness.

As the days passed, things began to return to normal in the art class. Lily thought about confessing her feelings to Dev, but then she discovered that Dev was the younger brother of her sister Luna’s old school friend. Worried that her crush might cause tension in her sister’s friendship, Lily decided not to tell him how she felt.She eventually left the art class to focus on her studies, though she continued to meet Dolly and Sofie. They stayed in touch through Instagram, and they told Lily that the senior girl had left the art class. As time passed, both Dev and the girl moved on with their lives, and so did Lily.
