Chapter 1: The Unexpected Collision

Akashi's footsteps echoed through the crowded hallway, his mind preoccupied with the looming exam. The familiar scent of freshly waxed floors and chatter filled the air. He turned a corner, lost in thought, and collided with someone.

The impact sent his books scattering. Apologetic, Akashi bent to gather them.

"Oh, I'm sorry! Are you alright?" he asked, startled.

A pair of piercing brown eyes met his gaze. Akane, a beautiful but prickly classmate, stood before him. Her dark hair framed her heart-shaped face, and her full lips curled into a subtle scowl.

"Hmmm, you seem in a hurry, Akashi. Did something happen?" Akane's voice was laced with sarcasm.

Akashi's cheeks flushed. "Ahh, nothing. We're just going to be late for class."

As they stood, the tension between them was palpable. Akashi sensed a spark, but Akane's intimidating demeanor quickly extinguished it.

Akashi's eyes wandered to Akane's outfit – a crisp white blouse and a plaid skirt, perfectly ironed. Her style was always impeccable, a stark contrast to his own rumpled appearance.

"Akane, you look...nice today," Akashi stammered.

Akane raised an eyebrow. "Thanks, Akashi. You're...disheveled, as usual."

Akashi chuckled, feeling a glimmer of ease. "Hey, I'm just creative with my wardrobe."

Their banter was brief, but Akashi sensed a connection.

As they entered the classroom, Akashi caught Dian's eye. She smiled, and Akashi felt a pang of guilt. He had been using Dian as a buffer to avoid Akane, but now he wasn't so sure.

Akane, sensing Akashi's gaze, turned to him. Their eyes met, and Akashi felt a jolt of electricity.

What was happening? Why did he feel drawn to Akane, the one person who seemed to dislike him?

The teacher began the lesson, but Akashi's mind wandered. He couldn't shake off the feeling that his world was about to flip.

Throughout the class, Akashi stole glances at Akane. She seemed lost in thought, her eyes fixed on some invisible point.

As the bell rang, signaling the end of class, Akashi felt a sense of relief. But when he turned to leave, he caught Akane's gaze again.

This time, something was different. Something had shifted.

"Akane, wait up!" Akashi called out, his voice barely above a whisper.

Akane turned, her eyes narrowing. "What is it, Akashi?"

"I...I just wanted to make sure you're okay," Akashi stammered.

Akane's expression softened, and for a moment, Akashi saw a glimmer of kindness.

"I'm fine, Akashi. Thanks for asking."

As they parted ways, Akashi couldn't shake off the feeling that his life was about to change forever.
