Right after Xander leave the guest's room to give her some privacy, Maeve was starting to feel bored. She decided to slowly try and stand up. Her hand grips the nightstand behind the bed. After succeeding to stand up, she walks towards the door and peep through the peep hole on one of the door. She looks at it and notice no one else is around, including Xander.

-Maeve's POV-

I slowly open the door and see a huge mansion, it's so huge yet luxurious that it looks like a castle. I walked around the mansion slowly, looking for the kitchen.

After I found the kitchen, I tried my best to find a cup.. but why is the shelfs so complicated? I search the lower drawers, there's none. My hands reach the top shelf till I accidentally slipped, but before i even fall, I feel some strong arms around me. I look behind me to find Sir Xander, holding me before I fall.

'Oh sh*t!' I think to myself. He tried to make me stand up straight but still holding my back with one arm.

"What are you doing here? you're supposed to rest!" He says in a (maybe) lowkey concerned tone. I feel happy that someone finally cared about me, but at the same time I feel conflicted. "I-im sorry, sir... I didn't mean to, I was just trying to get a glass of water..."

I say while trying to hold myself with the kitchen counter. Sir Xander sighs while holding my arm with one hand and my back with the other. 'Is he annoyed? I mean if I was him I would be...' I thought to myself while sighing.

"Stop saying sorry, it's alright. Just take care of yourself more well. You could've ask the maid or my assistant to get you a glass of water. you're not fully recovered, I can tell." 'Nvm, he's too caring for that...' I look up at his eyes, not responding anything but tons of questions in my head. There's something stuck on my mind but I decide to just talk about it later. 'Why does he seem so calm all the time even at these moments?!'

-Xander's POV-

'Is she crazy?'

This girl named Maeve seems to be shy, but she's brave at the same time? I'm curious about what she's up to. There's one other thing that's stuck on my mind. I heard from Alex that she's 23 yo. Two years younger? I'm sure it's gonna be so awkward after this ends, but the thing is, it's supporting the rumors I believe showed up since yesterday. Maybe a dating rumor. As a Xander Kane Ludovic, it's unusual having a problem like this the same day Alex announced that I'm the new CEO.

I think everything at my office. Am I too worried that I keep wanting to check on her or is it normal?

I made up my mind. I step out of my office and found that girl in the kitchen, not so far from my office. What is she doing? I don't want to surprise her, so I walked slowly towards the kitchen. Before I even say anything she slipped and almost fell down. I didn't think twice to help her. It's a must, obviously. I held her waist, but I still didn't want to make her uncomfortable and some distance is good.

-Time Skip-

*1 day later...*

-Maeve's POV-

Here I am, at work again. I couldn't shake off the uneasy feeling I have. It's going to be stuck with me for DAYS!

I'm starting to imagine things. If I keep resting and didn't get drunk, If I didn't bump into him that day, If I was respectful towards him. All of this won't happen! Ugh, whatever! I'm just going to continue working... Let's hope no one brings up yesterday's prob-

"OMG GIRL! DID ANYTHING HAPPEN TO YOU YESTERDAY? WHERE DID HE BRING YOU?! ARE YOU OKAY?"

...Or so I thought.

"I'm fine, Wynter. All he did was bring me to his house and let his private doctor check me, that's all. He also kept his distance, so don't be like that..." I had to explain that much? Nty.

"Ugh I wish I also pass out yesterday! Is his private doctor hot tho?"

I just had to look at her in disgust.

"I wasn't even conscious that time, stupid!" I blunt out clearly.

"Fine, fine. Did anything else happened?"

My mind drove back to yesterday's event, when I almost fell down and sir Xander helped me. I kinda feel my cheeks heating up a bit, but I quickly shake it off.

"Nothing else, just that."

"Hmm... I don't believe you. You seem flustered, girl."

"You don't seem like my best friend."

I say, crossing my arms with narrowed eyes.

"I am your best friend! I'm Wynter Maxine!"

She says, making me chuckle a little.

"Whatever, just get back to work! I'm not wasting any time just to keep talking about him!"

"Fine."

We both went back to working, and finally.. Peace.
