Scene: The Aftermath of the Relic Vault – Neon City Rooftops (continue)

Unknown Voice:

“The one pulling the strings. Elias was merely a tool—a pawn in a much larger game. You haven’t even scratched the surface.”

Kai, overhearing the voice, stands up, looking confused.

Kai:

“What the hell…?”

Lyra motions for him to stay quiet as the voice continues.

Unknown Voice:

“Your father knew. He was close to uncovering the truth before Elias silenced him. But the real threat isn’t Elias, Lyra. It’s me.”

Suddenly, gunshots ring out from a nearby rooftop. Lyra dives for cover as a sniper targets them from the shadows.

Lyra (shouting):

“Kai, get down!”

Kai dives behind a metal crate just in time, bullets ricocheting off the concrete. Lyra draws her weapon, her eyes scanning the rooftops, but the sniper is fast, barely giving her a clear target.

Lyra (gritting her teeth):

“Damn it, they’re not messing around.”

Kai scrambles to pull out a portable scanner, his fingers moving rapidly over the interface.

Kai:

“Give me a second—I’ll track the shooter’s position!”

Lyra leans out from cover, firing a few shots toward the sniper to keep them at bay, but the enemy is moving too quickly, disappearing into the shadows. The voice crackles through the comm again, almost mocking.

Unknown Voice:

“You’re not ready for what’s coming, Lyra. But don’t worry—we’ll meet soon. The relics are only the beginning.”

As the voice fades, Lyra clenches her jaw, adrenaline coursing through her veins. She sees a flash of movement on the far rooftop—another sniper.

Lyra (to Kai):

“They’ve got us pinned down. Can you get a lock on them?”

Kai (frustrated):

“They’re using cloaking tech! But I’m working on it!”

The gunfire intensifies as more mercenaries emerge from the shadows, equipped with high-tech gear, including cloaked drones and energy weapons. Lyra realizes they’ve been set up. This was never about Elias—it was about drawing her out.

Lyra (to herself):

“Damn… they planned this.”

With no time to waste, Lyra taps into her combat instincts. She leaps from cover, sprinting toward the nearest drone, sliding beneath it and firing upwards. The drone sparks and crashes to the ground. She grabs its control module, rewiring it quickly.

Kai (yelling):

“Lyra, what are you doing?!”

Lyra:

“Taking control.”

With the drone’s control module, Lyra turns it against the other drones, sending them spiraling out of control, crashing into the sniper's nest. Explosions rock the rooftop as Kai finally gets a lock on the sniper's cloaked position.

Kai (grinning):

“Gotcha!”

He hacks into the sniper’s targeting system, causing it to malfunction just long enough for Lyra to pinpoint the shooter. She takes aim and fires, hitting the sniper’s rifle, knocking it from their hands. The sniper retreats, vanishing into the night.

Kai:

“Nice shot! But I think they’re calling in backup.”

Suddenly, the rooftop shakes as a massive, heavily armed gunship descends from above, its cannons aimed directly at Lyra and Kai.

Kai (wide-eyed):

“Okay… backup’s here.”

Lyra doesn’t flinch, her eyes locked on the gunship. She glances at the fallen drone module in her hand, an idea forming. Without a word, she bolts toward the edge of the rooftop, grabbing a discarded cable from the sniper’s gear.

Kai (shouting):

“Wait! What are you—”

Before he can finish, Lyra swings off the side of the building, using the cable to zipline toward the gunship. As she flies through the air, she tosses the drone module at the gunship’s hull, causing a surge of energy to pulse through its systems.

The gunship sputters, its systems going haywire. Lyra lands on the gunship’s hull, pulling herself up just as the pilot tries to regain control. She smashes through the cockpit glass and knocks the pilot unconscious with a swift punch.

Inside the cockpit, she takes the controls, steering the gunship away from the city.

Lyra (over comms to Kai):

“I’ve got the ship. Meet me at the extraction point.”

Kai, still in shock, watches as Lyra flies off in the commandeered gunship. He shakes his head, muttering to himself.

Kai:

“Of course she did…”
