CHAPTER ONE
—One moment you're on top of the world, the next you're drowning in an ocean of despair—
—It's like a storm that comes out of nowhere, devastating your soul and shattering you—
—The pain is deep, a constant reminder of the darkness that surrounds you—
—You try to find a way out, but the shadows surround you, suffocating you with their crushing grip—
—And just when you think it can’t get any worse, life deals another devastating blow—
—I'm lying in a bed, my eyes red and puffy from crying—
—Today should have been the happiest day of my life - my wedding day—
—But instead of feeling joy and love, I'm plagued with emptiness and a sense of betrayal—
—Marriage is meant to be a beautiful union of two souls, based on trust, love and respect. But as I look around this room, I can't shake the feeling that I've been denied this precious gift—
—My eyes hurt from the tears I've shed, a physical reminder of the heartache I'm trying to understand—

*Heard the sound of the door opening*
*The sound of footsteps*
—Lying in bed, I am enveloped in an uneasy silence. Suddenly, footsteps echo through the room, making my heart beat faster—
MAHIMA ARYA MAHESHWARI (FL)
*Close my eyes, my fear mounting*
—My grip on the blanket tightens, my fingers turning white with tension. I tell myself to breathe softly, trying to calm my racing thoughts—
—But my mind is filled with worst-case scenarios, each step getting closer, ringing in my mind like a death knell—
—I am paralyzed with fear, don't want to open my eyes, not knowing what is going to happen next—
ARYA VARDAN MAHESHWARI (ML)
You're really sleeping alone on our wedding night? *Low, husky voice*
ARYA VARDAN MAHESHWARI (ML)
I thought we'd be too busy making love to sleep... *Voice dripping with sarcasm*
—I feel tears pricking the corners of my eyes, but I don’t let them fall. His sarcastic words still echo in my mind–
—I am alone and vulnerable in this place, surrounded by 'strangers'. My priority is self-preservation:

(Staying safe and avoiding any situation that could endanger my life.)
—I strain my ears, listening for the soft rustling of clothes, the sound of faint footsteps, and the sound of a door closing. I take a deep breath, open my eyes, and quickly wipe away the tears that blur my vision—
MAHIMA ARYA MAHESHWARI (FL)
Make love? *whisper to myself* What a ridiculous thing.
—As I lay there, I hear some rustling and the quilt starts to lift. I tense up, feeling him move closer—
—The rustling gets louder, and I sense his warm breath on my cheekbone - it's unnerving—
—He's super close! I wonder what he's doing—
—Then, he speaks in this fake sympathetic tone—
ARYA VARDAN MAHESHWARI (ML)
Well, well, well, look at this pretty face... so fragile, yet forced to endure so much. Poor girl. *His words make her skin crawl*
ARYA VARDAN MAHESHWARI (ML)
Well, I don't have any problem, after all what does it matter to me if the goat itself wants to slaughter.
—His voice was laced with malice—
—But he was only half-right—
MAHIMA ARYA MAHESHWARI (FL)
(I was indeed a sacrifice, like a goat led to slaughter. But my fate was sealed by my own family, who ignored my pleas and catered to someone else's desires)
MAHIMA ARYA MAHESHWARI (FL)
(Don't expect satisfaction from me, Mr. Husband. For now, I may be weak in your eyes, but I'm a Raghuvanshi's granddaughter, and I won't go down without a fight)
ARYA VARDAN MAHESHWARI (ML)
If you have stopped pretending to be asleep, Mrs Mahima Arya Vardan Maheshwari, we have words for a conversation. ❄️❄️❄️
