Haruno woke up slowly, her body aching and mind clouded. As her vision cleared, she saw the man who had been writhing in pain earlier, now staring at her with a mixture of horror and guilt. He stood, trembling slightly, his face contorted in self-loathing.

"I... I didn’t mean to..." the man stammered, his voice thick with regret. "I wasn’t in control... I… I can’t believe what I’ve done." He cursed himself under his breath, his fists clenching tightly. "I deserve nothing but death for this."

Haruno, still shaken and unsure of what had happened in her weakened state, felt a surge of fear as he stepped closer. Her instinct was to recoil, but something stopped her—maybe it was the sincerity in his eyes, or the deep sorrow in his voice. There was no malice left in him, only shame.

“I’m sorry… I am so sorry.” He knelt before her, unable to meet her eyes. “I’ve dishonored you. There’s no way to make this right. But if you will allow me, I will take responsibility... I will stay by your side, protect you, and... I will marry you, if you’ll have me.”

Haruno was silent for a moment, still processing everything. A part of her was still afraid, unsure if she could trust him after what had happened, but there was also a part of her that sensed no ill intent from him anymore. His actions were driven by desperation and lack of control, not cruelty.

Taking a deep breath, she spoke softly, her voice trembling but firm. "I... I don't know what to think right now... but I believe you didn’t mean harm." She paused, looking down at her trembling hands. "I’m afraid, but... maybe we are both lost in this world. Maybe... we can figure it out together."

The man, hearing her words, slowly lifted his head, a flicker of hope in his eyes. "Thank you... thank you for even considering this." He hesitated, then spoke again, softer this time. “My name is Huo Tang. I’m... a wandering cultivator. And you?”

Haruno’s voice steadied a bit as she replied, "I am Haruno... a spider demon queen, though... I hide that from the world."

The revelation of her identity seemed to make no difference to Huo Tang. He simply nodded, accepting her as she was without hesitation. “Haruno...” he repeated, as if committing her name to memory. "We may not know our paths, but I promise you, I will never let anything happen to you again. I will protect you... even if it costs me my life."

Haruno looked at him, searching his face for any sign of deceit, but there was none. His eyes held nothing but sincerity, and for the first time since the incident, her fear began to ease. She gave a small nod, acknowledging the start of their uncertain journey together.

As the tension between them settled, the cave became quieter, the only sound being the distant trickle of water from the waterfall outside. They both sat in silence for a moment, the weight of their situation heavy, but somehow... there was a sense of peace.

In the quiet, Haruno shifted slightly, her gaze softening as she glanced at Huo Tang. For the first time, she felt a strange warmth in her heart. Haruno didn’t pull away, instead allowing his fingers to wrap around hers.
