Shattered Reflections

The courtyard was bathed in a shimmering silver light, the stars overhead twinkling like diamonds scattered across a velvet sky. Mei Lin stood at the edge of the shimmering pool, her heart still racing from the revelations of the Celestial Veil. The water reflected not just her image, but fragments of her deepest fears and desires.

Determined, Mei Lin returned her gaze to the pool. “I need to face these fears. I can’t let them control me.” With a deep breath, she knelt by the edge, focusing on the reflections swirling in the water. One image caught her attention—a shadowy figure lurking just beyond her reach. It felt familiar yet foreign, a haunting reminder of the darkness she carried within.

“Show yourself!” she commanded, her voice steady despite the tremor in her heart. The surface of the water shimmered and then morphed, revealing the figure emerging from the depths. It was her—darker, more menacing, with hollow eyes that glowed like embers.
