Episode 1

...FOREST KENWORTH...

I have never been so lost as I'm right now. Sitting in the office at home and receiving mail from William, the private detective I hired as my brother-in-law James Walker insisted to clear my doubts about Felix Scott, my damned fiancé.

At 26, I'm a software engineer who basically works from home and actually one of the owners of a software tech company with my best friend Julian and brother-in-law James. I hold 40 percent of the shares in the company whereas Julian and James are 30 percent stakeholders.

I met my fiancé at a gay club in the city three years ago. He introduced himself as Felix Scott and said then that he was gay as well. My stupid self believed in everything he said at that time. We exchanged numbers and went out on a few dates. He was the same age as me and we got along really well. Within eight months, we started dating each other.

Once we started dating, Felix was the absolute prince that any gay man could imagine to date, He was handsome, charming and his way with words that could make any man/woman fall for him. After we hit the six month mark, we moved in together. After graduating, I moved into a bigger apartment and Felix's place was smaller compared to mine so at that time we decided that for the time bring, he should move in with me and then in future we will save up and take a bigger place.

On the two year anniversary, I introduced him to my parents. They weren't fond of him but they accepted my relationship with him since they love me. Felix had mentioned over the course of our relationship that his mother left them when he was young and that he does not have a good relationship with his father since he was abusive. I never questioned him further thinking that I might open some of his wounds.

For the past ten months, I have been observing strange behavior. He stays late for his work, he has been spending more time with his friends and employees than usual. I have always been a private person and Felix at the beginning of our relationship mentioned how the gay men in his office were discriminated against due to their sexuality and were always denied promotion so he wanted us to remain secret until we were ready for a serious step in our relationship which I didn't object to.

What made me feel secure was the fact that he proposed to me on my birthday and that was the journey of how my boyfriend became my fiancé. He kept me in the fog of this disaster of relationship that I was in which, as it seems now, was nothing but lies. The fairytale castle of my life was nothing but built on the sand.

I'm usually quick witted and take up on things earlier than usual. I remember an incident when at night I noticed him texting on his phone while he thought that I was sleeping. He suddenly received a call and walked out of the room, quietly shutting the door. I got up without alerting him and eavesdropped on his conversation that I wasn't really proud of but still I did it. He was talking with someone about meeting the next day in the office and discussing further about the plans rather than talking right now.

I was skeptical about what the planning was about because this colleague couldn't even wait till the next day. As I heard his footsteps approaching, I hurriedly walked in the bed and pretended to sleep. He came beside me and slept as well. After almost half an hour, unable to get my doubts out, I decided to check his phone. Checking on him, he was knocked out cold so I got up and took his phone.

I saw the caller was named 'Emily Dalton' who looked to be in her late thirties or maybe forties. I took a mental note of her name and skimmed through text messages on Felix's social media. I didn't find anything but the call from 'Emily' at 2:00 AM didn't seem to be anything related to work. I decided to look into it discreetly.
