Hoping You Don't See This.
I hate ducks.
They were always so noisy
Quacking and flapping, sometimes even hissing
I just hated them.
One day I joined a gc
I was immediately greeted by a member
I didn't quite get why she put her name as 'Duckie'.
I didn't say anything,
I just looked at the text for a moment before looking out for other gcs to join.
I couldn't help but notice how many message notifications I received from that same gc
I got curious on why it was so active
I saw that it was her, chatting her mind out as if no care in the world.
She kept sending this duck emoji almost everytime she sends a message.
Everytime someone else would send a text
Even if it were just a dot or a thanks message for the gbs
She'd say hi, like she didn't want them to feel shy
She'd start of by 'hry' the simple convos
If she'd find a topic the person she's chatting with is interested in
She'd use it right away to try and make them feel more comfortable chatting in the gc.
I observed all this
I didn't know why
I remembered I didn't collect the pinned gb
It would be a waste if I didn't, since it was free
I sent a thank you message after I collected
She immediately said hi
I didn't feel like I needed to reply
But for some reason I did
We started a small, simple convo
She asked for an introduction
I gave her one, and she did as well
I put something in my intro
A catchphrase in an anime I liked
She seemed familiar to it
And asked if I put it there by random or if I watched the anime
I said I watched it
She said she did as well
She started continuing our conversation with that
Always made sure it was the interesting parts
I replied, shared my thoughts about the anime as well
She started giving off her own opinions and observations of the anime
Ones I similar to the thoughts of mine as well
She seemed so engaged in the conversation
I did so as well.
Sometimes no one really put the effort like that
Sometimes they didn't know the anime and thought it was just some random quote
I felt glad,
To know that there was someone else in this app who shared the same interest
It was like that for a few days
We got to know each other a bit more
She was nice, bubbly, always said something that could make a person chuckle of laugh.
She was funny and cute
She would send duck pics all the time
Saying how she loved them and how adorable she thought they were
I just watched
And then came to a thought
'Maybe ducks aren't so bad.'
I didn't know yet the real reason why I was starting to change my mind...
