Veil of Blood and Sorrow

Veil of Blood and Sorrow

"The Great War"

Thousands of years ago, the sky suddenly cracked into tiny, portal-like fragments, as if the day of judgment had arrived. But it was something far more horrifying. These cracks were links to other worlds. People began calling them "gates." Soon after the cracks appeared, armies from different worlds began to invade each other’s territories through these gates, trying to take control of various realms. Chaos ensued everywhere, but the humans of Earth were in the greatest danger because they lacked special powers or advanced machinery to combat these higher beings, who were blessed with special abilities, magic, higher intellect, advanced weaponry, and more.

Soon after the invasions, the Warlocks, who specialized in magic and sorcery, defeated the humans in no time. They realized that although humans were weak, they had immense intellect and potential. Instead of exterminating them, the ruler of the Warlocks chose to enslave them for future use. In the blink of an eye, the weaker realms were overtaken by the stronger ones, and before long, a great war broke out among the higher realms for power and strength. The Warlords were among the strongest beings in the higher realms. They nearly defeated every realm that opposed them, but a significant problem arose when the Great Commander, 'Oculor Dios', the leader of the two most powerful groups 'Cyroin' Sect and 'Oculis' Order and the ruler of the 'Celestra Realm', decided to join the great war.

The 'Cyroin Sect' and 'Oculis Order' were composed of individuals who possessed special optical abilities, such as foresight, bending space-time, illusions, and mind reading. However, not everyone in that realm had these abilities, only those who had experienced true pain, love, betrayal, and suffering could activate their special eyes. Each eye had a different ability, pattern, and name. The more they used their abilities, the more ruthless they became. There was a limit to this, after years of using their powers, they would eventually go blind and become lifeless bodies. Yet, among them was a man who did not lose his vision even after hundreds of years of using his abilities Oculor Dios (the Divine Eye). Dios was the only Celestral being gifted with nine different optic abilities by the heavens. He was a wise man, despite his hatred towards conflict, he knew how to fight, when to fight, and whom to fight.

After many battles, only five realms remained standing:

The Celestra Realm, ruled by Great Dios (this world contains god-level entities that can manipulate reality through their eyes).

The Realm of Eldoria, ruled by Arcantor Xarion (this world contains magicians and sorcerers).

The Realm of Necrosia, ruled by Zephyrus Morgath (this world contains ghouls and fleshfiends).

The Elysion Realm, ruled by Orion the Eternal (the people of this realm have mastered the art of swordsmanship by merging their spirits and blending their souls into their swords).

Cyberia, operated by Electra Vortex (this world has advanced machinery and high-tech weapons capable of destroying worlds in an instant, their soldiers are all modified humans).

Among them, the Celestra Realm was the strongest. The Celestral beings were so powerful that even the supreme ruler of the Warloks, Arcantor, despite his hatred of other realms, decided to join forces with the remaining higher realms. He believed that with such a coalition, he would defeat Great Dios and then rule the realms. However, it was all for naught. The final war began, marked by bloodshed, hatred, anger, and revenge for fallen comrades. All these scattered emotions made the battlefield even more threatening and lethal. The four higher realms were winning until Great Dios activated his Reaper's Glance(one of the nine abilities of Dios: "Reaper's Glance" freezes the soul of every person seen by its user for eternity). Dios alone took out two realms from the battle, and the remaining ones were defeated by the elite knights of the Celestra Realm. The only man standing was Arcantor Xarion. He refused to let go of his sword and charged directly at Great Dios in agony.

Great Dios used his Glimmering Crystal Authority, which allowed him to summon crystals of any shape and size from the sacred realm and command them as he pleased. He summoned small stone-shaped crystals and commanded them to pierce through Arcantor’s body until he could no longer stand. Arcantor managed to destroy 19,542 crystals with his sword and magic. Soon after, his mana (mana is like stamina but used for magic instead of physical strength) ran out, yet the piercing crystals continued to come, piercing him 300 times before he collapsed to his knees. Great Dios stopped the crystals and approached him.

"It is decreed that you shall yield," said Great Dios.

"I, Arcantor, ruler of the Warlocks, shall not bow down to you, even if it means my death, for this shall be my tribute and honor to my fallen comrades," Arcantor said.

"Death, you speak of, yet I have no intentions of slaying you, nor did I bring harm to the other rulers. They are held captive under my territory. My desire is solely to engage in negotiation," said Dios.

"What do you mean by 'negotiation'? What is it that you seek to attain?" Arcantor asked.

"I yearn for this conflict to conclude in tranquility. It is the essence of peace that I seek," proclaimed Dios.

"You speak of peace after causing so much slaughter. Your claims are but lies, you wretched being," Arcantor yelled with anger.

"Peace, order, and justice demand sacrifices, O foolish sorcerer," Dios said with pity in his eyes. "Your people perished by my hands, and other rulers and kings also struck down your followers. Yet this does not negate the truth that you and your allies also slayed my knights and soldiers. What is war to you, my child? There is no victor in warfare—only despair, hatred, blood, and lifeless bodies upon the battlefield. My child, while you and the other rulers pursue strength and power, I seek a world of peace, free from chaos, war, and hatred. But I cannot achieve this alone, I, too, require the power and authority of other rulers. My child of magic, sacrifices were imperative for the greater good. Here, young Arcantor, take my hand, and I shall guide you toward a new world away from darkness, leading you to an evolution yet unseen by these realms."

Great Dios’s sincerity became apparent to Arcantor. He realized that Dios was not lying, he truly wished to guide the rulers, including himself, toward the light. Oculor Dios, alongside Arcantor, managed to convince the other rulers to come to the negotiating table. During the negotiation, Great Dios was able to win over the majority of the rulers from different realms. Although a few initially disagreed, seeing the majority of rulers siding with Great Dios, they were left with no choice but to agree to his terms. Thus, a new era began . But that was just the beginning.
