"I, Taylor Simon of the New Moon pack, reject you, Yesabel Carter, as my mate, destined by the Moon Goddess" says Taylor.

Taylor's words were like a dagger. I fall to the floor on my knees. I try to take a deep breath, and as best as I can, I get up and say…

"I, Yesabel Carter of the New Moon pack, accept your rejection, Taylor Simon," I watch as Taylor falls to the floor.

The pain is immense, and I faint, collapsing to the floor. My father holds me in his arms, and they take me to the cabin.

"How dare that boy reject my beautiful granddaughter?" says Montserrat.

"Mother, we are returning to the city this very day," says Mildred.

The adults exchange glances and sigh. My father picks me up in his arms, and we return to our home in the city.

To help you understand, let me introduce myself. I am Yesabel Carter, currently 26 years old, a medical school graduate, and about to start my residency at the city hospital.

I am a hybrid, half-witch, half-pure shapeshifter. You might wonder what a pure shapeshifter is; let me explain.

A shapeshifter is a supernatural being that is both human and half-animal. But in my case, it's different because being pure, I can transform into anything I desire with just a thought.

Only my family knows about this, for our safety. A century ago, pure shapeshifters were hunted down and exterminated by humans, and supernatural beings feared us because of our gift.

My father was the sole survivor of the pure shapeshifters. He managed to escape by pretending that he could only transform into one animal, a tiger. When it was my turn to shift, my animal was also a tiger. No one suspected our true nature.

I have an older brother who is a wolf, just like our grandfather, and an excellent warrior. For a while, we lived outside the pack due to my father's business.

My mother is the daughter of a witch and a wolf. My grandfather belongs to the New Moon pack. He is 300 years old and had traveled alongside the Alpha of the New Moon pack. Soon, he will hand over leadership to his son, Taylor, my ex-partner.

In his father's absence, Taylor rejected me to make his girlfriend his Luna.

"What have you done, Taylor?" asks Donovan.

"Father, it's for the best of the pack. Sandra is a strong and worthy wolf," replies Taylor.

Taylor's words further enrage his father, Alpha Donovan.

"Worthy wolf? We shall see about that. And when you finally open your eyes, it will be too late, Taylor. Yesabel, she would have been a worthy Luna. Let me make it clear that I will not accept you replacing the Delta. The Carter family has been a good Delta family: worthy and loyal warriors," says Donovan.

"I know, Father. Ivan is the best warrior in the entire pack. I just hope he accepts the position," replies Taylor.

Taylor looks at his father, having had enough of his wolf. Ever since he rejected Yesabel, Loki won't let him shift.

"Son, I just hope your decision doesn't affect the pack. In a month, I will hand over leadership of the pack to you. Alphas from all over the world will be here, including the Alpha King and his son," says Donovan.

"Father, everything will be fine," replies Taylor.

Taylor leaves his father's office to find Sandra.

Meanwhile, in the Alpha King's pack, many changes are beginning to unfold.

"MINE!!!" is heard from the back of the great hall as a man appears beside the Great Luna, Marion.

"MINE!!" Marion responds, drawn by the strong bond of the mating pull.

"What's happening?" asks a female voice.

"I found my mate," the man replies.

"But do you know who she is?" asks the young woman.

"No, all I know is she is MINE," replies the man.

"We have a lot to talk about," says Marion.

"I'm listening," the man responds.

"I am Marion Harper, wife to the Alpha King by choice. As the years passed, and my mate didn't appear, Alpha Dereck and I made the decision to unite in our loneliness. We were both already 200 years old, but we were always clear that if our mates were to appear, we would separate. For this reason, we never marked each other. We have two children, they are twins, and I am also a grandmother. If this bothers you, I accept your rejection," says Marion.

"I would never reject you for that. I've also lived my life. In these 300 years, I searched for you, but not finding you, I started a family. I have a daughter and a grandson," the man says.

"We need to talk to Dereck about this. Oh, and what's your name?" says Marion.

"Excuse me, my name is Alejo Martinez, and I am a warrior in a pack in Spain. It's a small one," says Alejo.

"Let's go. Dereck will be arriving soon," says Marion.

"Father, are you sure?" asks Cler, his daughter.

"Yes, my child. Your mother abandoned us a long time ago," replies Alejo.

Cler sighs; she wants her father to be happy, but his mate is the chosen partner of the Alpha King. She doesn't want to see her father hurt.

Upon arriving at the pack house, Marion orders a delicious snack to be prepared for the little girl accompanying her mate.

"Marion, this is my daughter, Cler. She is 30 years old, and this little one is my granddaughter, Sofia," Alejo says.

"It's a pleasure to meet you. What pack do you belong to?" asks Marion.

"Starry Night. It's a small pack located in Spain. We came as part of Alpha Mario Garcia's entourage. My daughter is the Beta's mate, Patricio Sanchez," Alejo explains.

Just then, voices are heard entering the room. Three tall men with cold expressions and strikingly similar features.

"Do we have visitors?" says Dereck.

"Dereck, I found my mate," says Marion.

The Alpha's impassive expression suggests he didn't take the news well, something that worries Cler.

"That's wonderful news, Marion," says Dereck, extending his hand to greet the wolf standing before him.

"Thank you, Dereck," says Marion.

"Alpha?" Alejo starts but is interrupted.

"Don't worry. We knew this could happen. I only ask one thing of you both: to wait a little longer before making any claims. We have to go to the New Moon pack for the new Alpha's ascension. After that, there's no problem with Marion relinquishing her position as Great Luna," says Dereck.
