Memories

After all the embarrassing moments, our first period began: Mathematics. I usually looked forward to this class, but with the arrival of our new teacher, Ms. Reena, all my enthusiasm seemed to vanish._-

She was teaching us about triangles, but God damn I couldn’t grasp a thing. I found myself lost in thought, staring at my notebook with my head down.

...----------------...

Our previous teacher, my idol, was now gone. His new posting was in Kerala, which is seriously so far away from us...

Well, I had already known about his transfer before anyone else did. On his last day at school, he didn’t mention anything about leaving. He entered the classroom as usual, chatting with us and teaching maths in his creative way. We loved learning from him, and so did students from other schools.

On his final day, he was teaching us about surface area. He posed a question: “Students, tell me how I should cut these four fields so that in this square, all the different crops will fit?” Everyone fell silent, unsure of the answer. He then said:

“Kal sab soch kar aana is ka answer, main aapko kal bataunga.”

(“Tomorrow you all think about it and come up with the answer, and I will tell you the solution.”)

His words struck me deeply. All the students were eager to solve the problem, but I was torn. I knew about his transfer—did I hear wrong? Why didn't he tell us about his transfer? Should I ask him? My mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, but I didn’t dare speak up.

He was looking at me, perhaps sensing my internal struggle, or maybe he knows what I am thinking. He just smiled, and I realized I shouldn’t mention his transfer to my classmates. If I did, it might make his departure harder, and he will be unable to leave, and I didn’t want to be the barrier to his success.

Next day:

The next day was ordinary, except for Maths class. Instead of our usual teacher, our Sanskrit teacher came in. Everyone was puzzled and speculated that he might be absent, though he was never known to miss class, no matter weather if it's raining or Storming outside, One student asked:

"Mam where is sir today?"

the teacher replied, “don’t you know? He has left the school.”

Everyone was shocked except me. I had anticipated this.

“But Mam,” the student said, “yesterday he gave us a question and said he would reveal the answer today.”

The teacher replied gently, “bacha, He may didn't want to hurt your feelings. After all, he was your teacher. If you all had known about his transfer, you might have tried to convince him to stay.”

They asked numerous questions, many echoing my own thoughts from the previous day. *Sigh* How unfortunate. I had already processed the news, while the others were just beginning to understand it...

LUCA!!

I snapped back to reality as the new Maths teacher called my name sharply.

*I stood up.* “Yes, Mam?”

Teacher :- "do you think I’m a fool for teaching everyone here?”

“No, Mam…” *I said*

The Teacher:- “Then tell me, what did I teach?”

“Mam, you taught us about triangles…”

“What is a triangle?” she asked.

I began, “A triangle is a polygon with three angles, sides, and vertices, and it a planner figure…”

“Is that all?” she interrupted.

She elaborated, “A triangle is a polygon with three corners and three sides, one of the basic shapes in geometry. The corners, also called vertices, are zero-dimensional points, while the sides connecting them, also called edges, are one-dimensional line segments. A triangle has three internal angles, each bounded by a pair of adjacent edges; the sum of the angles of a triangle always equals 180 degrees. The triangle is a plane figure, and its interior is a planar region. Sometimes, an arbitrary edge is chosen as the base, in which case the opposite vertex is called the apex; the shortest segment between the base and the apex is the height. The area of a triangle equals one-half the product of the height and the base length.”

“But Mam,” I protested, “I said essentially the same thing; you’re just expanding on it.”

“Are you arguing with me now?” she snapped. “Get out of my class!”

There was no room for debate. I stood up and left, feeling this was becoming a routine for me—yes this is how usually I got out from class for SERIOUSLY no reason at all....

Tch,Tch...-_-
