Queen Astrid vs Archmage Iode (part 1)

The situation of the the battle was not looking good for the Valkyries, as the wizards were having an overwhelming edge against the them, simply because of the Kaiju known as the "Hippogriff".

The Valkyries were having a hard time impaling the beast. Apart from the Hippogriff being large, it's feathers and hide were very thick. It also possesses an ability to create mist that will temporarily blind an opponent. The Hippogriff also possess the wind and earth elemental abilities.

Another critical edge the wizards possess is the number of high level mages in the battlefield. In the wizarding system, there are five levels mages have, from low level, mid level, advanced level, high level and legendary level.

In the battlefield, the high level mages were many, though the number of low level, mid level and advanced level mages out numbers the high level mages, the fact that high level mages were up to one hundred, gives the wizards an upper hand.

The legendary mages were very few, but strong enough to turn tides in milliseconds. With all these overwhelming facts, the Valkyries didn't give up and believes that their goddess will assist them to victory.

Queen Astrid has readied her lance, to make an horizontal slash towards the neck of the Hippogriff, but to her surprise the Hippogriff was fast enough to move it's head away from the lance despite it's size. But the queen didn't stop there.

She thrusts her lance forward and a pillar of fire came forward, towards the archmage himself. But the archmage was unfazed as the Hippogriff puts its wings forward to block the flame.

The flame was powerful, as it was strong enough to actually burn the wings of the Hippogriff, but it didn't reach the archmage.

Queen Astrid has already predicted this might happen so she already moved even before her attack finished. She was already behind the archmage, ready to pierce his back, but suddenly an invisible shield stopped the attack and became visible.

"Tsk, aren't you having fun with the Hippogriff?, why come to me".

Queen Astrid, seeing her attack stopped, scoffed and said "you think that measly shield of yours will stop me?". She infused mana into her lance to create a soul lance, directly jumping over the aura lance, then she said some magic words and magic circle were forming in her left hand.

"I've surpassed being a legendary mage, though i don't know the level i am, maybe god level or something, but that magic trick you are doing looks weak". Archmage Iode said.

Then the Hippogriff turned sideways to continue it's battle with the queen. Queen Astrid was pissed off seeing this stupid beast getting in her way.

She raised her lance up, then she was shooting beams of fire to accumulate to become a small yellow sun. The miniature sun was ready and she hurled it towards the Hippogriff.

The Hippogriff attempted to fly so as to evade the attack, failed. The miniature sun hits it, killing the Hippogriff on the spot.

"That attack was really powerful, it killed my mount in a matter of seconds, but it failed to harm me". Archmage Iode said while on the ground.

Archmage Iode always have a magic shield protecting him almost 24/7. No matter how strong the attack is, as long as he has enough mana,he will be protected.

"Now there isn't any annoying monster to get between us, it's time to dance", Queen Astrid said.

Archmage Iode scoffed and said

" I'm unlike other mages, i also know how to fight like a warrior, so lets dance".

Archmage Iode brought out his staff from thin air and faced it towards the queen. Queen Astrid ran forward and gave a diagonal slash, the Archmage's staff elongated and blocked the attack.

The two royal heads were fighting like warriors and queen Astrid was actually mesmerized by Archmage Iode's swordsmanship, despite holding a staff and not a sword.

"You know Queen Astrid, I've yet to do any magic spells and see we are already evenly matched, you are not as strong as you and others believes, you are weak" Archmage Iode taunts the Queen.

"If you believe this is all i got, you are making a grave mistake". Queen Astrid replied and thrust her lance forward firing a barrage of fire towards the Archmage.

The Archmage slashed his staff to counter the attack and fire out pillar of water to counter the fire.

"Sheepish Archmage, you think such a counter attack would work against me?, You don't know who you are dealing with!". Queen Astrid shouted.
