Episode 11

Time continued to pass, year after year, and it had been three years since Andini started using the Genderuwo amulet. Everything was going well, and her life had improved significantly after using the amulet. There was not a shred of regret in her heart now. In fact, Andini was very happy because she could also take revenge on the group of young men who had brutally raped her after she was sold by Yogi, her younger brother. One by one, they had all died; Andini had sacrificed three of them. There were four left, including Yogi. She deliberately saved Yogi for last because she was still considering it. There was hesitation in Andini's heart because Yogi had always been very kind to her.

"Be a good girl at school, okay, Sal?" Andini was greeted by her younger sister, who was now in the first grade of high school.

It was a new school year, and Salsa was determined to do well. Andini repeatedly told her not to drop out of school no matter what happened. The most important thing was for Salsa to succeed and become a good woman. Andini didn't want Salsa to follow in her footsteps as a prostitute or Yogi's footsteps as an irresponsible man. At least one of them had to succeed so that their family could be happy.

"Mbak Rita will accompany you tonight, okay?" Andini reminded her.

"How long will you be out of town, Sis?" Salsa asked.

"Just three days, then I'll be back with you," Andini replied.

"Okay, be careful," Salsa said before leaving on her motorbike.

While she used to walk a very long distance, Salsa now had a motorbike, although it was Andini's old one because she had now bought a nice car. Andini could afford everything now; their house was huge and its design outshone the rich people in the village.

Meli, their close neighbor, was extremely envious. As the young wife of Juragan Mus, she couldn't believe Andini had such a big house. Jealousy grew in her heart because she wanted a house like Andini's, even though her current house was already nice. Meli was simply filled with envy whenever she saw her friend living a good life.

"Mbak, you can accompany Salsa and Mom tonight, right?" Andini asked, wanting to make sure when Rita and Reni passed by.

"Of course, you already told me three days ago," Rita replied.

"You're rarely seen around, Andini," Reni commented, as she rarely saw her.

"Bang Yakub's organ is selling really well, Sis! So I'm rarely at home. I even have catering for three days," Andini explained.

"Alhamdulillah, may it be a blessing for the family," Reni said happily.

It seemed that only Meli had a heart full of envy. She immediately rushed over to where they were gathered because she wanted to hear what Andini had to say. Anyone who lived a better life than her would surely be envied. It was truly remarkable how envious this woman was. Her envy would never be cured until she died because it had become an inseparable part of her.

"It's nice to suddenly become rich, but have you never held a thanksgiving?" Meli folded her arms.

"What thanksgiving are you talking about, Meli?!" Rita snapped.

"It's called having a new house; you're supposed to say a prayer," Meli quipped.

"You never said a prayer when you got a new house from someone else's husband," Reni retorted.

Andini's large gold bracelet caught Meli's eye, making her dazzled and envious. She wanted one just like it. She decided that she would talk to her husband later to buy her a bracelet of the same design.

"Don't tell me you're using black magic, Andini?!" Meli accused.

"Yes! And you'll be my first sacrifice, so be prepared!" Andini replied.

Rita and Reni laughed at Andini's reply. They enjoyed seeing Meli's pale face, frightened of becoming a real sacrifice for her neighbor.

"Why are you so busy accusing me? Later, I'll tell my black magic entity to sew your mouth shut," Andini threatened.

"See! I knew it; she must be using black magic!" Meli exclaimed.

"What's wrong with you? Stop watching so many horror movies. You should watch movies about the punishment for homewreckers!" Rita snapped.

Feeling defeated by the three of them, Meli decided to leave rather than endure further embarrassment. Her plan to isolate Andini had backfired.

"I'll go home first. It seems my cousin will be arriving soon," Reni announced.

"Where is your cousin from, Ren?" Rita asked.

"The village at the end. He wants to see the coconut grove owned by the village head," Reni replied.

"What time is he coming, Sis? If you're free, let's go for a drive. Consider it a treat for my new car," Andini offered.

"Sure, if it's now. He'll be here around two or three o'clock," Reni said.

"I'll change first. Wait for me," Rita said excitedly.

Finally, the three of them went for a drive because Andini wanted to treat them. Bu Semah was at home with Yogi, so it was safe to leave them. One thing Andini could be proud of about Yogi was that he was willing to take care of their sick mother. So, when they were left alone, Andini felt no anxiety because she knew Bu Semah would be well taken care of by her beloved son.

"Where did you learn to drive, An?" Rita asked curiously.

"Well, I was learning during those driving lessons," Andini replied.

"Oh, you mean the car that was always going slowly," Reni recalled.

"Yes, I took lessons for two months and just bought this car," Andini answered.

"Alhamdulillah, your income is getting bigger, An," Rita commented.

"I also have side jobs selling clothes and cosmetics, so alhamdulillah," Andini nodded.

They believed that being a singer and selling clothes and cosmetics could bring in that much money. How could they not believe it, as they didn't know that Andini was also selling herself?
