Suho woke up to find Lumina already up and about, humming a gentle tune as she made breakfast. He watched her from the couch, mesmerized by her innocence and kindness.
As they ate breakfast together, Suho realized he was growing accustomed to Lumina's presence. She was no longer just a fairy who had saved his life; she was becoming a friend.
Lumina, sensing Suho's gaze, turned to him with a smile. "Master, what's wrong?"
Suho looked away, feeling a hint of embarrassment. "Nothing, Lumina. Just...thank you for breakfast."
Lumina's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly recovered. "Of course, Master! I'm happy to help."
As they finished breakfast, Suho began to feel a sense of comfort with Lumina he hadn't experienced before. It was a small moment, but it marked the beginning of a deeper connection between them.
As the days passed, Suho found himself growing more comfortable around Lumina. He began to notice the little things about her, like the way her pink hair curled slightly at the edges when she smiled, or the way her star-shaped pupils sparkled when she laughed.
One evening, as they were watching TV together, Lumina fell asleep beside him. Suho glanced down at her peaceful face and felt a pang of...something. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but it was a feeling he hadn't experienced in a long time.
As he looked at Lumina, he realized that he had been pushing people away for so long. He had built walls around himself to protect himself from getting hurt again. But Lumina's presence had slowly started to chip away at those walls.
Suho's thoughts were interrupted by Lumina's gentle snoring. He smiled wryly, feeling a sense of tenderness towards her. Without thinking, he reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair out of her face.
Lumina stirred, opening her eyes to find Suho's face inches from hers. For a moment, they just looked at each other, the air thick with an unspoken understanding.
Then, Suho quickly looked away, clearing his throat. "You fell asleep," he said gruffly.
Lumina sat up, rubbing her eyes. "I'm sorry, Master. I didn't mean to."
Suho waved his hand dismissively. "It's fine. Just...get some rest, okay?"
Lumina nodded, but her eyes lingered on Suho's face, searching for something. Suho avoided her gaze, unsure of what she might see if she looked too closely.
Suho's phone rang, breaking the silence. He hesitated, wondering who could be calling him. He hadn't been in touch with anyone for a while.
"Hey, Suho! It's Ji-Hyun. I've been trying to reach you for ages!"
Suho's expression softened at the familiar voice. "Ji-Hyun...it's been a while. What's up?"
Ji-Hyun's tone was enthusiastic. "I know you've been going through a tough time, but I think I have something that can help. I'm working at Aurum Jewelry now, and we're looking for someone with your skills. I immediately thought of you!"
Suho snorted. "Me? Working? I don't think so, Ji-Hyun. I'm done with all that."
But Ji-Hyun persisted. "Hear me out, Suho. This could be a fresh start for you. And I'll be there to support you. Plus, I think you need something to get your mind off things."
Suho glanced at Lumina, who was watching him with curious eyes. He thought about how she had been trying to get him to engage with the world again. Maybe this was a sign?
"Fine," Suho said finally. "I'll come in for an interview. But no promises, Ji-Hyun."
Ji-Hyun whooped in excitement. "That's all I can ask for! I'll send you the details. Thanks, Suho! You won't regret this!"
As Suho hung up, Lumina asked, "Master, what's going on?"
Suho shrugged. "An old friend offered me a job. I'm not sure if I'll take it, but..."
Lumina's face lit up. "That's wonderful, Master! You should totally do it!"
Suho raised an eyebrow. "You think so, huh?"
Lumina nodded vigorously. "Yes! You need something to do, Master. And who knows, maybe you'll find something you love!"
Suho smiled wryly, feeling a spark of hope for the first time in a long time. Maybe Lumina was right. Maybe this was the start of something new.
