Unwanted Wish
(At Unknown Place)
In the suffocating darkness, she stumbled forward, her hands reaching out in vain. The blackness was absolute; she could see nothing, feel nothing, but the oppressive weight of her surroundings. Her breaths came in shallow gasps, each exhale mingling with the chilly air. It was eerily silent, save for the occasional rustle that made her heart race.
“I’m somewhere… old,” she murmured to herself, her voice barely a whisper in the void. The faintest echo of her own words seemed to confirm that she was indeed in a place forgotten by time—a fort or castle, perhaps. Her senses began to adjust, piecing together the fact that she had been taken again. The familiarity of captivity did little to ease her nerves this time; in fact, it only heightened her curiosity and frustration.
The lack of guards was perplexing. Normally, there would be eyes on her at all times, vigilant to prevent any escape. But here, she was alone, which made her wonder if this was some new, more cunning trap.
“This can’t be real,” she thought, her mind racing. “Is this some kind of dark dream or a spell? Did I fall into a storybook?”
The sound of crows cawing brought her back to the present. She listened intently, following the eerie calls through the dark until she noticed a glimmer of hope—a narrow window high on the wall. If she could reach it, she might find a way out.
Determination fueled her efforts. She felt around for a foothold and, with great effort, managed to find a small ledge. As she climbed, a loose brick shifted under her weight, causing a cascade of debris. Panic surged, but she forced herself to push through. Her efforts paid off; a sizable hole now offered a clear escape route.
With a final heave, she squeezed through the opening and emerged into the open air. The outside world greeted her with an unsettling stillness. This was no place she recognized. The vast expanse before her was alien and unwelcoming. The excitement of adventure was tainted by the reality of her situation. She longed for the thrill of exploration, but not under such grim circumstances.
She made her way to the main gate of the crumbling palace, her curiosity as strong as her need for answers. With hesitant steps, she approached the entrance, drawn by the mystery of her captor.
(Inside the Palace)
The inside of the palace was a realm of decay, its grandeur long faded. Echoes of her voice bounced off the cracked walls as she called out.
“Is anyone there?” she shouted, her voice bouncing back eerily.
“Hello? Mr. Kidnapper?” Her tone grew playful, but there was a hint of anxiety underlying her words.
Suddenly, a cold grip seized her from behind. She gasped, spinning around to face her assailant. Clad entirely in black, his form seemed to blend seamlessly with the darkness of the palace. His eyes, though mostly obscured, flickered with a range of emotions—anger, confusion, and something darker.
“What are you doing here?” he demanded, his voice a low growl.
Her eyes widened. “Why am I here? That should be my question. And why are you dressed in shadows? What do you want from me?”
Before she could finish her sentence, he thrust a powder into her mouth. The harsh, bitter substance made her cough violently, her throat searing. She struggled to speak, her words lost amidst the coughing fit.
The Black Knight moved away, his form slowly ascending the stairs. “Drink water from the backyard,” he instructed in a cold, detached manner, before disappearing into the shadows.
Her cries for light were met with silence. Desperation gripped her as she stumbled back outside. The courtyard was cloaked in darkness, save for the dim, eerie glow from the moon. She made her way to the pond he had mentioned, its surface thick with muck and debris. The thought of drinking from it was repulsive.
Gasping for breath, she remembered a remedy she had read about—a peppermint leaf. She scanned the grassy area frantically, searching for the plant that could ease her pain. The grass and plants around her were abundant, but she had to find the right one.
As she hunted for the leaf, the Black Knight watched from a high window, his eyes gleaming with a dark satisfaction.
“You’re still as wild as ever,” he murmured, his voice carrying the weight of a cruel promise. “Things are about to get much more interesting from here. I have many plans for you, Princess.”
