The Bet

"You got a hearing problem kid?" Kiran asked in an insolent tone "Please excuse him Kiran, Maverick isn't the best at listening which is why he was transferred here." the principal said with a nervous smile as Maverick stared at Kiran with a sligh offended look. Kiran didn't care about the look Maverick gave and arrogantly rolled his eyes in response " Okay so this is Maverick, he was transferred here what does that have to do with me?" Kiran asked his patience running thinner by the second. "Oh well since he's new here and you don't have many friends...I thought this could be a what do you say? 'killing two birds with one stone' situation and you can show him around!" the principal proudly suggested as Kiran gave a disgusted look as the thought of the principles statement made Kiran feel like a bunch of ants were crawling up his skin. "No way in hell am I doing that." Kiran boldly said before turning to walk away but promptly stopped as he heard the principal say "But your father has already said you'd do it. It would be a shame if I had to call him and tell him you said otherwise.." Kiran turned his head slightly and glared at the principal who showed he was a bit nervous but was holding his ground. Kiran then glanced from the principal to Maverick though for a few seconds then turned his head back straight "come on runt I don't got all day." Kiran finally caved as Maverick happily hopped beside him. "Thank you Kiran please take good care of Maverick as you show him around!" the principal relived said. Kiran let out a large sigh before reluctantly walking Maverick to his locker. "I'm so excited! I've never been to this type of school before!' Maverick boastfully exclaimed while shutting his locker after retrieving the things he needed. "Why the hell would you be excited to be in this shit hole?" Kiran asked confused to Maverick's excitement "Well why wouldn't I be? I get to be with kids my own age and learn new things!" Maverick exclaimed like a child getting a taste of candy for the first time. As they both began walking Kiran still couldn't understand why Maverick seemed to like the idea of this school being a good'ol time. "Just wait till your second class kid. You'll be begging me to take you back to wherever the hell you came from." Kiran told Maverick who gave Kiran a mischievous grin "Wanna bet on that?" "Bet on what?" Kiran questionably asked Maverick in response. "I bet I make it the whole day without begging to go home once!" Maverick exclaimed proudly "I don't think that how bets work short stack. You gotta get something out of the bet to make it a bet." Kiran raised a brow to Maverick with a grin. "Alright then I bet I'll make it till the end of the day without one complaint and if I win you'll owe me a favor!" Maverick told Kiran as the both came to a stop at Maverick's classroom "What favor?" Kiran asked "Dunno I'll have to see." Maverick responded "Okay then what do I get if I win?" Kiran questioned "Same thing! A favor to be named later!" Maverick shrieked "Alright then..Deal." Kiran lent out a hand to Maverick which he shook in response "Deal!" Maverick smiled brightly.
