Bad Memory Eraser

**Scene 1: The Haunted Memory**

The episode begins with a disorienting dream sequence, in which Gun finds himself back at the lake, the scene where his life took a sharp turn. This time, however, the setting is surreal— the sky is an unnatural shade of red, the water in the lake is pitch black, and the air is thick with a sense of foreboding. Gun is alone, standing at the water’s edge, clutching the medal that had once meant so much to him.

As he stares into the dark waters, the figure of the mysterious girl appears on the other side of the lake. Her features are obscured, her face an indistinct blur, but her presence is unmistakably familiar. Gun calls out to her, but she doesn’t respond. Instead, she slowly begins to walk into the lake, the water rising up to engulf her until she disappears beneath the surface.

Panicked, Gun rushes into the lake after her, but the water is cold and heavy, dragging him down as he struggles to reach her. As he sinks deeper, he begins to hear voices— distorted echoes of his family, Joo-yeon, and Han Dong-chil— all pulling him in different directions. The voices grow louder, overlapping in a cacophony of demands and accusations, until Gun feels as though his mind is about to shatter.

Just as he’s about to succumb to the darkness, he wakes up with a gasp, drenched in sweat. He’s back in his hospital bed, the room dimly lit by the soft glow of the nightlight. His heart is pounding, and his breath comes in ragged gulps as he tries to shake off the lingering terror of the dream. But even as he tells himself it was just a nightmare, he can’t escape the feeling that the girl is slipping further and further away from him, like a memory he can no longer grasp.

**Scene 2: The Widening Rift**

The next morning, Gun is discharged from the hospital, but the atmosphere at home is tense and uncomfortable. His family, still reeling from the emotional upheaval of the past few days, walks on eggshells around him, unsure of how to approach him without triggering another breakdown. Gun himself is distant, his mind consumed by the memory of the girl and the feeling that he’s running out of time to find her.

Shin, desperate to mend their fractured relationship, suggests that they go out for a drive together, just the two of them. Gun reluctantly agrees, more out of a desire to escape the stifling atmosphere at home than any real interest in spending time with his brother. As they drive through the city, the conversation is stilted and awkward, filled with long silences and half-hearted attempts at small talk.

Eventually, Shin pulls over to the side of the road, unable to keep up the pretense any longer. He turns to Gun, his expression earnest as he apologizes once again for everything that’s happened between them. He tells Gun that he never wanted to be the source of his pain, that he never asked to be the favored son, and that he regrets not being there for Gun when he needed him the most.

Gun listens in silence, his emotions a tangled mess of resentment, guilt, and a yearning for the bond they once shared. But despite his anger, he can see the sincerity in Shin’s words, and a part of him wants to forgive his brother, to let go of the bitterness that has poisoned their relationship for so long. Yet, the wounds are still fresh, and Gun isn’t ready to let them heal just yet.

Instead of responding to Shin’s apology, Gun abruptly asks to be taken to the lake. Surprised, Shin hesitates, but ultimately agrees, sensing that this is something Gun needs to do. The drive to the lake is silent, the tension between them thick and palpable.

**Scene 3: Revisiting the Past**

When they arrive at the lake, the place is eerily quiet, as if frozen in time. The water is calm, the surface reflecting the overcast sky like a mirror. Gun steps out of the car and walks down to the shore, his mind flooded with memories of the last time he was here. He can almost see his younger self standing at the edge of the water, full of hope and ambition, unaware of the tragedy that was about to unfold.

Shin watches from a distance, giving Gun the space he needs to process his emotions. Gun kneels down at the water’s edge, staring into the depths as if expecting the girl to reappear. But the lake remains still, offering no answers, no comfort. Frustrated, Gun picks up a stone and hurls it into the water, watching as the ripples spread outwards, distorting the reflection of the sky.

As he stands there, lost in thought, a memory begins to resurface— a memory that had been buried deep within his subconscious. It’s the memory of the day he first met the girl, but this time it’s clearer, more vivid. He remembers her smile, the way she looked at him with a mixture of admiration and sadness, as if she knew something he didn’t. He remembers how they would sit by the lake for hours, talking about their dreams and fears, how she would always listen to him, never judging, never interrupting.

But there’s something else in the memory, something that makes Gun’s blood run cold. He remembers the day she disappeared, how he waited by the lake for hours, hoping she would come back, but she never did. He remembers the way his parents tried to console him, telling him that she had moved away, that it was time for him to let go and move on. But even as a child, Gun knew that something wasn’t right, that there was more to her disappearance than they were telling him.

The realization hits Gun like a punch to the gut— the girl didn’t just move away, she was taken from him, her memory erased just like his. And now, all these years later, the same thing is happening to him. The thought is both terrifying and infuriating, and Gun feels a surge of anger that he hasn’t felt in years. He can’t let this happen, he can’t let her be forgotten.

**Scene 4: The Confrontation**

Determined to uncover the truth, Gun confronts his parents later that evening. He demands to know what really happened to the girl, why they never told him the truth, and why they allowed him to believe she had simply moved away. His parents, caught off guard by his sudden outburst, try to deflect his questions, insisting that they only wanted to protect him.

But Gun isn’t satisfied with their vague answers. He pushes harder, accusing them of being complicit in whatever happened to the girl, of knowing more than they’re letting on. The confrontation quickly escalates, with Gun’s mother breaking down in tears and his father growing increasingly defensive. Shin, who has been watching from the sidelines, tries to intervene, but Gun shuts him down, telling him to stay out of it.

Finally, his father admits that there was more to the story. He tells Gun that the girl’s family was involved in something dangerous, something that put them all at risk. They had to leave, and in order to protect everyone, certain memories were erased— not just from Gun, but from others in the community as well. It was a decision made out of fear, a decision they’ve regretted every day since.

Gun is stunned by the revelation, his mind reeling from the implications. He feels betrayed, not just by his parents, but by the entire system that allowed this to happen. He demands to know who was responsible for erasing the memories, who had the power to make such a decision. But his father remains tight-lipped, refusing to divulge any more information.

Furious, Gun storms out of the house, his mind racing with thoughts of revenge and justice. He knows now that the girl was more than just a childhood friend— she was a victim, just like him. And whoever was responsible for erasing her from his life needs to pay.

**Scene 5: A Desperate Search**

Over the next few days, Gun becomes obsessed with finding out the truth about the girl. He starts digging into old records, talking to people who might remember her, and piecing together the fragments of his memory that still remain. But the more he searches, the more he realizes just how deep the conspiracy goes.

He discovers that the memory-erasing procedure wasn’t just an isolated incident— it was part of a larger, covert operation designed to protect certain powerful individuals from exposure. The girl’s family had stumbled upon something they weren’t supposed to know, and in order to keep them quiet, their memories were erased and they were relocated under new identities.

As Gun delves deeper into the mystery, he begins to uncover a network of corruption and deceit that reaches the highest levels of society. He learns that the same organization responsible for erasing his memories is still active, still manipulating people’s lives for their own gain. And worse, he realizes that Han Dong-chil and his mentor might be involved in the same shady dealings.

Gun’s search for the truth becomes a race against time, as he starts to fear that the organization will come after him once they realize how close he’s getting. He grows increasingly paranoid, suspecting that everyone around him— including his family and Joo-yeon— might be in on the conspiracy.
