Emma's mind was reeling as she processed the news. Her real mother, alive? It was too much to take in.

"Max, I need some space," Emma said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Max nodded understandingly. "I'll be here for you, Emma. Whenever you're ready."

Her father nodded, a small smile on his face. "I'll arrange it," he said. "But be prepared, Emma. Your life is about to change in ways you never imagined."
