Gianna steps momentarily into the garden, gazes at the sky, and begins to walk across the grass, then she feels a tightness in her chest, sensing the fear of falling back into those deceptive feelings.
The young woman doesn't realize, as she reflects on everything that has happened, that she is thinking of her grandparents, of the pain they must be experiencing believing her to be dead.
Gianna does not notice how far she has wandered; she finds herself in the dense woods on the outskirts of the party, looks back at where she was just moments ago, and contemplates whether to leave or not.
The kings and their children have been kind to her, and she cannot do that to them; it would be terrible to leave without saying anything, Gianna thinks, resolving to return.
Her steps take her back when she hears some screams; someone is being attacked, it is a girl. Gianna walks toward the cries, armed with just a dagger hidden in her dress, but she cannot abandon another girl in danger.
Gianna charges toward the shouts and sees two vampires. The young woman wears a beautiful dress; it is obvious she was attending the party.
The girl is thrown to the ground, and they laugh, relishing in her suffering. She pulls out her dagger and assesses her options.
"What a delight, we will enjoy every drop of your blood, but first, we will quench our thirst with you, darling," the brutes say, and at that moment Gianna steps forward and strikes one of them. The vampires’ attention shifts to her, allowing the girl to get to her feet.
The girl screams and cries endlessly; Gianna, keeping her eyes on her, urges her to flee.
The vampires try to prevent it, but Gianna is swift, blocking the path to the girl.
"Look at this beautiful prey, what do you think, boys?" one says and leaps at her. She stabs him in the chest, and he laughs, eyeing the dagger lodged in him, mocking her for how futile that was...
But as the vampire attempts to pull the dagger free, Gianna jumps and kicks it deeper into his chest, reducing him to ashes.
"One less, who’s next?" she declares, which enrages the vampire and another lurking in the shadows.
"Hello, my beautiful little one, how are you? We're going to have some fun," says the vampire as he steps out of hiding.
"I'll teach this little bitch to respect us," the other vampire snarls.
"No, Klenth, you won't harm this beauty; she's far too lovely to hit before we take her," he said, and the vampire looked at him and nodded.
"Bring her here; come on, let’s take my little one somewhere else." He commanded, and Klenth lunged at Gianna. She managed to jump out of the way, but he attacked again, and Gianna recalled her training; she had to act fast as her opponent was stronger.
Gianna lunged at him with the dagger she had recovered, launching into a relentless attack while the other observed, fascinated by the little wolf.
The furious vampire hurled her away, slamming her against a tree far off.
"Goddamn bastard! I told you not to harm our toy!" protested the other vampire. But Klenth didn’t care; he attacked her again; that girl wouldn’t make a fool of him.
Gianna concentrated on the beast and tried to push him back with her hands. The dagger had fallen from her grip, and from her palms burst a dark aura that sent him sprawling.
"Goddamn bitch!" screamed the other vampire, seizing her by the throat before throwing her away.
"Now it's payback, you little whore, right here, I'm going to have my way with you." While the other recovered, he rushed toward her, gripping her wrists and forcing her legs apart as she struggled.
"I'll teach you to respect first, and then you'll accompany me to the castle to be introduced to the others, you filthy bitch," he yelled. She screamed, and from her, a surge of dark energy erupted, knocking him back.
"Bitch? No, wolf." She shouted, and the other one, now recovered, swiftly approached her and slapped her before tearing her dress. Gianna fought back, thinking,
Help me, Drago.
She continued to struggle with the vampire, who was attempting to undo his belt, and finally managed to kick him hard, then started to run, only to crash into something as solid as rock.
Two silver-gray eyes looked at her, and she saw them darken. The man placed her on his back and took a few steps, swiftly reaching Klenth. He grabbed him by the neck and threw him against a rock, then lunged at him, ripping his head from his body with a swift pull of his hair.
The man was possessed; he turned toward the other vampire, who, upon seeing him, fled. But he was caught. With a single hand, the man opened the vampire's chest. Gianna only saw the back of the imposing man and all his movements. He raised his hand, revealing a blood-filled heart, which he then squeezed, turning that vampire into ashes.
The man turned to Gianna, and for a moment, she caught a glimpse of his face twisted by rage—his eyes a brighter gray than silver, the veins in his neck bulging and throbbing, his suit nearly bursting from the increase in his muscles. But that look faded the instant he saw her.
He approached and removed the coat from his suit, placing it over her.
Concern was evident on his face; he didn't hesitate to carry her and asked,
"Are you alright, Puppy?" Marcus asked Gianna, and she simply nodded.
"You shouldn't have run away. Your place is with me. Now let's go home," Marcus said, and she nodded again.
"Thank you, Marcus... I... I'm sorry..." she began, but his lips silenced her. The world stopped spinning; sounds faded away, and several voices echoed distantly. This made them part, leaving her unsure of what to say as she blushed.
"Gianna, what happened?" Maximo spoke, trying to reach for her, but he was stopped by Marcus.
"Some vampires did this. I'll take her home," he said, and the others approached, eager to know how she was. But Prince Marcus lifted her into the car in his arms, and the chauffeur drove off. He didn't wait for anyone; he just wanted to ensure she was safe.
