Harris waited a day to visit the temple. He needed to talk to Beryl. He wanted to know about the rumor from the omega's perspective. Upon arriving, he asked to speak with Beryl. However, he was first taken to the Cardinal, who asked about the reason for his visit since it was his second time there, and the first had only upset Beryl.
"Miss Alison came a short while ago and only caused young Beryl to become upset due to his past memories," the Cardinal mentioned.
"I understand. I have heard the rumors and want to know the truth. I want to know if Miss Alison is truly the person I believe her to be."
"Very well, but please, if he doesn't wish to speak about it, do not pressure him," the Cardinal requested.
Harris agreed, so a maiden guided him to the place where Beryl usually spent a few hours. The maiden knocked, and upon receiving permission to enter, she informed Beryl that the prince wished to see him. Beryl allowed him in.
Upon entering the room, Harris noticed many plants and a seating area near the large windows, as well as a tea table on the other side. The Cardinal had arranged for the room to be a resting place for the boy. Beryl invited him to sit down.
"If you've come to scold me for what happened with Miss Alison, it's best not to speak."
"No, I want to know the truth. Did she treat you poorly? In the village, they say she also harmed you."
"Physically, no. But she never said anything. She saw how they treated me and just smiled. That is also painful." He lowered his gaze.
"Did she know that you would be the sacrifice?" Harris asked nervously.
"She knew, but she still refused to do it herself. She said that she would never sacrifice herself for anyone, and that no one would miss me anyway." He hugged himself tightly.
Harris was stunned by what he was hearing. Alison, the woman he always saw as good, was this cruel? It was as if they were talking about a different person.
"This... is so confusing..."
"I know you don't believe me. She's the person you love, and I won't force you to believe me. But I hope you won't stop me from telling the truth." Beryl looked intently at Harris.
"No, I'm not asking you to stay silent. It's your right to express how you feel. It's just that I'm confused. Who really is the woman I planned to marry?"
"She's just like her parents, a fake. I even doubt she didn't know he was her brother. I often heard the Countess call me the Count's bastard," he added, fueling the fire.
"I understand. Thank you for your honesty. I will make sure the Count and Countess and Miss Alison do not come back to disturb your peace."
Harris said his goodbyes. Beryl crossed his arms as he watched Harris walk out the door, but behind him, Frederick appeared.
"You're a cunning little pink rat. You enjoy stirring up trouble," Frederick whispered.
Beryl was startled and moved away from the dragon.
"He deserved it. Besides, it's true. That woman didn't even pity me. She deserves to lose her wedding," he replied.
"So much hate in such a small body." Frederick sat down. "But I like it. You know how to use everything to your advantage."
"I'm like a chihuahua. Ten percent cuteness, ninety percent hate." He nodded.
"What's a chihuahua?" Frederick raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"It's a small dog. In my other life, my friend had one, and it bit my little... toe..." Beryl showed his finger as he realized what he had said.
Frederick fell silent. Another life? Were his lies affecting his head? This was truly strange.
"Ahem... Well... I think it was something I dreamed..." Beryl chuckled nervously.
"Be careful. Don't believe your own lies," Frederick teased.
Frederick left the room. For now, he had to go to his castle and see how things were going there. He just hoped the omega wouldn't get into trouble being alone for a couple of hours. Still, the dragon kept thinking about what Beryl had said. He certainly spoke of strange things. Was it possible that he had a life before being born as Beryl? The idea sounded so far-fetched, but it was best not to press the little omega on the subject.
...
As for Alison, she hadn't been able to see the prince since the day Harris had been angry. The rumors wouldn't stop, and even her parents had been harshly criticized by society. Alison had also been the subject of mockery among the young ladies. Frustrated, she threw the books from her desk – books she had been studying to prepare to be the Crown Princess.
"All because of him, my life is falling apart... It's not my fault... I didn't know he was my brother... he was just a servant..." she complained.

Frederick returned to the temple late, so he entered through his bedroom window. Luckily, he had left it open. But before going to sleep, he peeked into the omega's room, which had a connecting door. Beryl was already asleep, but his hair was loose, strands covering his face. So, Frederick carefully brushed them aside, observing the sleeping boy's face. And indeed, he was quite beautiful. That's why Frederick had such a big ego. Beryl pursed his lips and whimpered softly, causing Frederick to let out a chuckle. Realizing what he had done, he calmed down, but then he was startled when Beryl opened his eyes.
"You're back... I thought you had run away and I would have to rule the kingdom alone." He sat up, rubbing his eyes with his hand.
"And leave you with all the glory? Never." Frederick sat on the edge of the bed. "I hope you haven't gotten into any trouble."
"Not today. Maybe tomorrow, when you're around to fix it," Beryl replied, stretching his arms above his head. "How are Rina and Angela? Oh, and Jack?"
"They're fine, but they miss how noisy you are. Angela gave me a suitcase with some of your clothes. I left it in my room," Frederick said, pointing to the door.
"I'll get them tomorrow. I don't want to get up now. Let's just go to sleep." Beryl lay down again and patted the spot next to him. "Come on, let's sleep."
"It's not proper. I don't want you to think I'm only staying with you out of responsibility," Frederick replied. "I'll go to my room."
Frederick tucked him in and let him go back to sleep.
"I would never think that..." Beryl murmured.
