Episode 9

The carriage advances along a road in the middle of the forest, but, no matter how many hours they have been traveling, the forest seems to have no end and he can see that it is close to nightfall, in addition to his butt hurting from being seated for hours. He keeps his eyes on the window, but the trees don't seem to end. He lets out a sigh and stares at the wall of the carriage until suddenly, it stops and he can hear the knights talking. Beryl leans out to ask why they have stopped.

“The river, it has overflowed and is blocking the road, we will not be able to pass today,” says one of the knights.

"Huh?, but, isn't it dangerous to stay in the forest?" he asks.

"It is, but, there is no other choice, stay in the carriage, we will take care of the surveillance,” replies the knight.

“At least can I get off?, to...ehem...you know, water the plants?" he asks.

The knight gives him permission, but he should not go far, although it is not completely night, it is better to be cautious. Beryl gets off the road, to enter the forest, he takes a few steps until he notices that the knights cannot see him from there and waters the plants.

Feeling finally free, he goes back, but, he hears a kind of croaking, so he goes back to see what it is and peeks out, noticing a strange bird, although if he looks closely, he finds it familiar. It was a bird with a huge beak and a robust body, in addition to having small wings.

"A dodo?, oh! They didn't go extinct, they traveled to another world like me,” he says to himself.

He comes out of his hiding place to approach the bird, once he can catch it and keep it as a pet.

"Come on, pss, psss...come with Beryl...psss,” he shows his hand.

The bird cocks its head watching Beryl and when he has the omega's hand close, it opens its huge beak trapping Beryl's hand inside it, the bird was large, almost a meter, so it had strength and pulls Beryl's hand as if it wanted to rip it off.

"Ah!, dammit, you son of a bitch bird...that's why you went extinct..." he yells.

The knights arrive when they hear the young omega's scream.

“Little one, no! Those birds are dangerous.”

The knights hold the bird's beak to try to get it to release the omega's hand.

"Kill it, cut off its head...but get it off me," Beryl yells.

"We can't, if we kill it, the beak will never open.”

"What?, why didn't anyone warn me about this bird...mommy..." he cries.

After an effort of almost half an hour, they free Beryl's hand and take the opportunity to kill the bird, it will serve for dinner, since its meat is delicious. Seeing the bird on the floor, Beryl kicks it.

"You deserve it," he looks at his hand all chewed and red.

Upon returning for the carriage, one of the knights applies a cream to Beryl's wound, this will help keep it from swelling and heal quickly. Today, Beryl has learned a lesson, not to try to catch wild animals in that world.

Beryl stayed inside the carriage and settled down trying to sleep, but he could hear shrieks and other harrowing sounds, it was like being in a horror movie. Beryl looks out the window, the knights had built a bonfire, some sleep around it and others keep watch. As he watches, he can see a pair of red eyes shining from behind the bushes, this startled him, because it's as if those eyes had looked directly at him. Now that he thinks about it, maybe leaving the castle was a bad idea.

The minutes pass and Beryl can't sleep, while the night seems eternal, he only hopes that everything remains as calm, something that was not possible, because he feels something hit the carriage, which shakes everything and makes him fall, while he hears how the guards seem to be fighting with something. Beryl leans out the window, seeing how the knights are facing a kind of beings that look like mutant rats, with long hands and claws, a tail and their face that reveals red eyes with a mouth of sharp teeth.

“What the hell are those things?” he asks scared.

Suddenly the door opens and one of those long hands grabs his ankle and pulls him, Beryl lets out a loud scream holding on to whatever he can while kicking the thing's face.

“Let go of me, I'm not tasty, I swear my soul tastes horrible," he yelled.

Finally he is dragged and raises his hands to the face of that thing, as he does so a magic seal glows.

“Lauz dil ekhaler, krilha gaztha jakherlo hardhek…”

Upon finishing, a light shines on that seal, that being releases him and takes a few steps back and the light shoots out in the form of lightning bolts, striking the body of that being and it burns. Beryl repeats this same spell throwing the rays at those creatures, who upon seeing what Beryl is doing, retreat until they are lost in the darkness of the forest. Beryl just ends up passing out.

Beryl's eyes open slowly, seeing the ceiling blurry, there was a chandelier and it had luxurious details, that was definitely not the roof of the carriage.

"He finally woke up!, Young Beryl, how are you?, Does anything hurt?"

"Huh?, I...this..." he sits up suddenly. "Angela?, but, how?"

“You've been asleep all day, the knights arrived at the castle with you unconscious, they said that demons attacked you and you used magic against them...” she explains.

“What?, wait…did they take me back to the castle?” he asks surprised.

“Yes, they couldn't take you to town, the river wouldn't let them pass. I'm glad you're okay," she sighs in relief.

Rina enters the room and seeing him awake, she is relieved, but she turns around while calling Frederick, letting him know that Beryl has woken up.
