Chapter Five:The Heart's Sacrifice

Bora stood in the dimly lit park where they had shared so many memories. The soft breeze rustled the leaves, and the scent of blooming flowers filled the air, but tonight, the atmosphere was heavy with sorrow. Woon-hoo’s face was pale, his eyes filled with an unbearable sadness that mirrored her own.

“I have to go, Bora,” Woon-hoo said softly, breaking the silence. “I’m transferring to another city. It’s a family issue.”

Bora's heart clenched. “No, please, Woon-hoo, don’t leave. I can’t stay without you. Is it because of my dad?” Her voice trembled, tears welling up in her eyes.

Woon-hoo gently took her hands in his, his touch warm and reassuring despite the cold dread in her heart. “Promise me you won’t cry. I’ll come back to you. Don’t cry, Bora.”

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she shook her head. “How can I not cry? You’re my everything, Woon-hoo. How will I survive without you?”

He pulled her into a tight embrace, holding her as if he could protect her from all the pain. “Bora, listen to me. I love you more than anything. This is just temporary. I have to go now, but I promise I’ll return. I’ll come back to you.”

Bora clung to him, her sobs muffled against his chest. “But why? Why does it have to be this way?”

Woon-hoo pressed a kiss to her forehead, his voice breaking. “Sometimes life forces us to make choices we don’t want to make. But I swear, Bora, no matter how far I go, my heart will always be with you. Every step I take will be a step closer to coming back to you.”

She looked up at him, her eyes pleading. “Don’t leave me, Woon-hoo. Please, don’t go.”

He cupped her face in his hands, wiping away her tears with his thumbs. “Bora, I need you to be strong for me. I need you to believe in us. This isn’t goodbye forever. It’s just for now.”

Bora’s shoulders shook with silent sobs as she tried to memorize every detail of his face, fearing it might be the last time she’d see him. “Promise me you’ll come back. Promise me you won’t forget me.”

Woon-hoo nodded, his own eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I promise. You’re my heart, Bora. How could I ever forget you?”

He pulled her into another warm hug, enveloping her in his arms, trying to imprint the memory of her warmth and presence into his soul. She buried her face in his chest, savoring the moment, wishing it would never end.

They stood there, holding each other in the moonlight, two souls intertwined by love and fate, torn apart by forces beyond their control. The night seemed endless, each second stretching into an eternity of longing and heartache.

As Woon-hoo finally pulled away, Bora felt a piece of her heart break away with him. He kissed her one last time, a lingering kiss filled with all the love and promises they couldn’t put into words.

“I love you, Bora,” he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. “Always and forever.”

With those final words, Woon-hoo turned and walked away, leaving Bora standing in the park, her heart shattered but clinging to the hope that one day, they would be reunited. The moon cast a silver glow on her tear-streaked face as she watched him disappear into the night, the echo of his love resonating in her heart.
