Chapter 4

We handed in our assignment and the teacher seemed to be pleased with us. We were given more work which we did pretty well. Things were going pretty smoothly until, Mrs Miller our class teacher made an announcement.

"Now as I end my lesson" she began, "I'd like to remind you all about our schools cultural day. As you all know, apart from our new student, that all classes come up with something to present I would like to know whether you have anything planned and if not any suggestions"

There were murmurs. Some people gave out some ideas but not everyone agreed. "What about a play?" Wendy, one of the girls suggested. People began murmuring again but this time it was in approval. "It seems like most of you are ok with a play. What play do you want?" Mrs Miller asked. "What about Goldilocks and the 3 bears?" someone said. "What are we kids?" another answered.

"No one seems to have any idea. What suggestion do you have Wendy?I mean you couldn't have given the idea without having something in mind" Mrs Miller said. "Romeo and Juliet a sweeter version though where neither of them die" Wendy said.

"That's certainly interesting. What do you all think?" There were more murmurs but no one answered. "Fine then we'll be presenting a play Romeo and Juliet. Wendy kindly prepare the scripts then present them to me then from there I will give you the way forward. Have a good day" Mrs Miller walked out of the classroom.

"Hey did you hear that? I wonder who's gonna play as Romeo" Alice turned to both Sierra and I. "Its obviously going to be Cole and I'll be his Juliet" some girl answered. "Are you even listening? Zahra? Zeehh" Alice called out shifting my attention from outside the window to her. "What are you always looking out though that window?Or are you waiting for your prince Charming to call out to your name and they ask you to jump into your arms so you can run off into the sunset? " Alice asked.

"Ha ha so funny" I said as I rolled my eyes. "What do you think about the play?' Sierra asked me. " Nothing really it's just a childish story I don't get what they hype is about" I shrugged. "Childish story?Who told you that?It's a sweet romance thought it has a tragic ending. Wait do you even know what Romeo and Juliet is about?" Alice asked.

"I don't think I do" I said. "You're joking right?" Sierra asked in "Its not a big deal what's up with the both of you?" I asked them. "You should watch it. I promise it's the best" Alice begged. "Fine fine I'll watch it" I only said that to stop her from nagging.

Three days after the picking of our class item,the play, Mrs Miller came to class again and made some announcements. "So I've already gone through the script. I'm guessing you had planned for this Wendy. Anyways I think the script is ok. Now one thing is missing our actors and actresses"

I'm sure she expected us to cheer or something cause she had a hint of disappointment on her face. "Any volunteers?" she asked. "Hey what do think about me being Juliet?" Alice asked. "Then I'll be your Romeo" Sierra joked
