Dark Love

Dark Love

The Classroom Encounter

The grand lecture hall buzzed with the hum of eager students, all absorbed in their own world of notes and whispered conversations. It was a typical day at the prestigious Lakeside University, where the air was thick with anticipation and the scent of old books.

Anesthesia sat at her usual spot, her notebook open and pen poised, her soft brown hair cascading over her shoulders. Her green eyes, gentle and kind, scanned the board intently as the professor elaborated on the nuances of Romantic poetry. She loved this class, where she could escape into the world of words and emotions, a stark contrast to her own life.

A few rows back, Max leaned back in his chair, his piercing blue eyes fixated on Anesthesia. His dark hair fell perfectly into place, framing a face that was both handsome and intimidating. He was known for his cold demeanor and sharp tongue, and today was no exception.

"Anesthesia, did you even read the assignment? Your answers are all wrong," Max’s voice cut through the silence like a knife.

Anesthesia’s cheeks flushed crimson as she glanced up, her heart sinking. She hated being the center of attention, especially when it involved Max's relentless scrutiny. "I'm sorry, I'll try to do better," she mumbled, her voice barely above a whisper.

Eva, Anesthesia's best friend, leaned over and whispered, "Ignore him, he's just being a jerk."

James, Max’s friend, chimed in from the back, "You could be a bit nicer, you know."

Max shrugged, his expression unreadable. "Why should I? She needs to toughen up."

The tension in the room was palpable, but the professor, oblivious to the undercurrents, continued his lecture. Anesthesia buried her face in her notebook, willing herself not to cry. She had been infatuated with Max since the first day of class, despite his constant insults and cold-hearted remarks. There was something about him that drew her in, something she couldn't quite explain.

After class, Anesthesia hurried to pack her things, eager to escape the prying eyes of her classmates. She could feel Max's gaze on her, but she didn't dare look up. Eva grabbed her arm and led her out of the room, whispering words of comfort.

"Don’t let him get to you, Anesthesia. He's not worth it."

Anesthesia nodded, forcing a smile. "I know, it's just...he's so infuriating."

Eva sighed, "Yeah, but he's also kind of hot. Too bad he's such a jerk."

They walked to their favorite spot under a large oak tree in the campus courtyard, where they often spent their free time. The sun filtered through the leaves, casting a dappled pattern on the ground. It was a peaceful spot, a stark contrast to the chaos of the lecture hall.

"Why do you let him get to you?" Eva asked, her tone gentle.

Anesthesia shrugged, her eyes distant. "I don’t know. There’s something about him. I feel like there's more to him than what he shows."

Eva shook her head. "You’re too kind-hearted for your own good, Anesthesia."

As they settled under the tree, Anesthesia couldn't help but steal a glance back towards the lecture hall. Max was still there, watching her with an intensity that made her heart race. She quickly looked away, her mind a whirlwind of confusion and emotions.

Despite his harsh words and cold demeanor, she couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something more to Max. Something hidden beneath the surface. And for reasons she couldn’t quite understand, she was determined to find out what it was.
