When You’re Unconscious

“Shit! Is she out cold?!”

Rose looks up at me with an annoyed grimace.

“I don’t know. She fell on the ground and now has a slower pulse. What do you think, Drake?!”

“Okay okay calm down! Someone will here us!”

I look around alertly.

“Is this what Luna said was gonna happen?!” Rose asked, panicking.

“She didn’t say what was going to happen! She just said to do it as soon as possible and get the hell out of the school!”

I sigh. I lay the back of my hand on her cheek. I couldn’t help it. I missed her. I think for a moment.

“Okay, we need to run. There’s an exit down the hall.”

Rose rolls her eyes.

“How are we gonna explain an unconscious body that we have to carry to passerbyers? That’s gonna get ya some weird looks. And we have at least fifteen more minutes until the teacher’s spell wears off.”

“Then I guess we’re booking it.”

Rose takes one arm and I take the other as we drag an unconscious Emily down the hall. Thank god no one’s out in the hallway or we would have had to run faster, and it was hard carrying an extra body. We turn a corner and Emily starts to stir.

“Shit.” It’s hard enough with an unconscious Emily, but I don’t know if I have the ability to take one kicking and screaming.

“What’s the plan, Drake?” Rose turns to me as we speed down the hall.

“Hurry up before we get the mother load of beatings. She may not remember but she’s still a stubborn *** and she doesn’t hold back punches in the figurative sense and physical sense.” I laugh a bit as I say this.

“Then let’s hur-” Rose pushes, but another voice cuts her off.

“I am so glad that I didn’t have to lift a finger to do this.”

We stop dead. We turn forward. Good god. Now of all times.

“I don’t remember inviting you, Edward...” Rose growls.

A man in black attire approaches from the opposite end of the hallway.

“Hmph, as polite as ever, Rosie.” He crosses his arms and points at Emily, who is beginning to wake by the second.

Rose growls, but the man ignores her, instead turning his attention to me.

“I’ll be taking her, Drake. If you’d be so kind.”

Suddenly I’m pushed up against the wall next to me. I look to see Rose is in the same predicament. Emily drops to the floor. Almost immediately she snaps awake.

“What the-?! Drake?! Rose?” She looks around wildly and sees up pinned up against the walls in midair and then to Edward.

“Em, r... ru...” I try to tell her to run but something won’t let me. She can’t be lost again.

I turn to see Rose with a petrified look as she gazed at Emily and then at Edward.

Emily looks around again as Edward speaks.

“Hello, Dear. If you wouldn’t mind, you’re coming with me.”

“...is it time to run?” She says faintly.

Yup. That’s Emily.
